A large park with all kinds of hikes and sights. We took the train to the Hualien station and got an 8 hour tour for $3600 NTD from a local taxi driver. Well worth it.
Is a must visit. I read a lot about it, and though it was cloudy, it was beautiful. There were a lot of tour bus, but we were just a bit ahead of them, so, it was not too busy.

Wanted a change of scenery from the bustling city of Taipei and thought Taroko would be a breath of fresh air. The park is beautiful, with numerous walking trails overlooking beautiful scenes of mountainsides and rivers. We travelled here with our 4 month old baby....More
Very nice place to drive through, and enjoy the scenery. Most of the time quite busy with buses and a lot of other cars.
Was disappointed that my tour group did not go to Taroko Gorge. Instead we were brought to the national park which has a museum to explain the history of the indigenous people of Taroko. Had a coffee and a snack for NTD150 at the coffee...More
