I went here yesterday and it was absolutely pouring down but you can still see how beautiful it is. Only 50 baht to get in, so it is worth it. Don't book a tour! Take the green bus from bus station 1, it takes around 20 minutes and it costs only 20 baht!

Aside from the White temple, Chiang Rai is a good place to do nothing for a day or two and very few would be bothered to make the journey. This is a unique and brilliant place which I thought was worth the effort getting there, but can imagine many would think otherwise. There is an excellent free gallery of the... More

This was by far my favourite temple we visited in Thailand. Only built within the last 21 years, it offers something a bit different. 50thb to enter.

It's all white and its building is carved beautifully. Small temple but interesting enough to warrant a visit. Do not miss seeing pikachu/doraemon painted inside the main shrine! It's just located on the left of the door. Go to the toilet just because it's painted in gold as a contrast to the white paint for its temple.

They say seen one temple you have seen them all, the White Temple is very different. From the moment you go in it has a very different feel, in a very good way. There is a mixed of old and new in this modern temple. Even set next to a busy road you can feel the relaxing atmosphere throughout. Take... More

If you can, arrange to visit here first thing in the morning before the crowds arrive. We had hired a private minivan for the day so we got there early soon after they opened.

TL;DR - It's so white there it hurts to look around, but a unique temple with a lot of quirks. Like the title says, you have to see it if you are in Chiang Rai! Yes it's touristy but it's a unique temple that has a lot of quirks and a pretty deep meaning to the art you'll see! Even... More

By far the most beautiful temple that we visited. Modern and very different from the rest. Don't miss the wall painting inside the temple including the fall of the twin towers and many famous cartoon figures. Also the toilets are worth visiting.....
