Island paradise but very crowded. Recommend to do the nature trail and take the stairs to the viewpoint 109m above sea level. Many visitors leave at 3pm so make sure you have a later return.

The Hong Islands were BETTER than Phi Phi Islands by a lot! There was trash all over each snorkeling stop for the Phi Phi tour, and a ridiculous amount of people. We talked to one of the long boat drivers, who called "his buddy" with another long boat and they had us drive over to Klong Muang Beach to meet this boat. He took us to Hong Island - with snorkel gear - and dropped us off. The place had hardly any visitors! We were shocked and amazed! The "trick" is to get there close to lunch time when the tours are getting ready to head back from the morning. They don't go out there in the afternoons. We spent almost 6 carefree hours here enjoying ourselves, swimming and walking through the park. There is a small snack shack, but definitely pack a bag of food to go with you. There's a ton of picnic tables and trash cans as well. When we were ready to go, we just walked out to the pier and our Long Boat driver saw us and came up to get us. Definitely a better way to visit than going through a tour company. Make sure to tip your driver heavily since he's literally sitting out in his boat doing nothing but waiting for you to return.

We went to the island by longtail boat. There was a lot of jellyfish on the trip there but on Hong Island there wasnt very many so we were able to have a swim. Water was beautiful. The viewpoint is worth the sweaty climb up a lot of stairs, the view incredible. It gets busy quite fast but not too many people when we were there. Stopped at a few other islands, but not able to snorkel as too many jellyfish. The lagoon was really fun and we all jumped off the boat and have a swim. Enjoyed our day. No rubbish bins, so you take your rubbish with you, so handy to have a bag to put it in. Nice to see no rubbish strewn everywhere.

The excursion does not deserve more than 3 hours on site.
Beautiful beach, small and very quickly crowded.
Possibility to take a tour in the jungle and climb to the top of a rock piton with beautiful views.
Turbulent water on the day of our visit, few fish
Nothing extraordinary

I spent 2 days in Krabi Town. It was very beautiful and the people living there are very friendly.
We took a long boat tour on the Indian Ocean where we meet up with a group of kayaking guides. We also explored some other areas (islands) and were treated very well by everyone we encountered.
If you want a place to just relax or maybe do some surfing or shopping, Krabi Town is a wonderful place to experience these activities.

Wait for a calm day but it is worth it . Hired boat off beach - much cheaper than via hotel . Views and beaches on 3 islands awesome . Great service and to sit on beach and have a 4ft long monitor lizard walk past was amazing . Waters full of tropical fish which even if stand still in sea up to your knees they will swim around you

If you are tempted to visit the islands and then go on to Hong , prepare for overly crowded beaches, arguments between visitors over” photograph opportunity queues “ a whole heap of plastic / rubbish and the danger of boat travel .
Massively oversubscribed , boats vying to park , pontoons that rise/ fall dramatically .
Given the area is a National Park I’m not sure how much longer the eco system can sustain this amount of tourism .. no bins on the islands, far too many people and plastic abandoned on the beaches.
The biggest issue is the return speedboat race back to Ao Nang .. in a huge swell the boat we were in was at max power all the way back , passengers at the front got the boat stopped and moved to the rear , life jackets were then issued !! The driver just opened up full throttle , winds were apx 15 kmh . I’m not sure structurally how much punishment these boats can take daily , I’m not risk averse but I would not be surprised if there has been or shortly will be a fatality . A beautiful set of islands that are drowning in the chase for idyllic Thai experience .

Don’t miss this place once you come to Krabi. You will not be alone because it’s hotplace and crowded. I went thier by shared boat but I would like to recommend to book private traditional longtail boat because we can design our trip with no limited time (i saw the price is afforadable)

We got the private charter longtail boat in front of Sofitel Krabi hotel. There is the large board that shows the contact phone number and several destination. The cost to Hong Island is 2200THB as of Aug. 2023. You just called the number and ask him to book Hong Island.
We went to Lagoon at 9am since the highest tide is 11:43am. We stopped at Lagoon for swimming approximately 30 min. We were in beach to be relaxed.
As August is rainy season, there was less people at beach. Fortunately, it was cloudy and no rain in the morning.
It is highly recommended those who are special experience.

Is Hong Islands worth to visit only if interested in doing snorkelling or kayaking?
I have no plans to do these , only sit and relax on the beach.
Please tell me if it's worth to take the tours ?

It's a great cruise out there... good views and I would certainly go for a relaxing beach day to fill in a day away from Patong ( if that's where you are based)

To be honest it was organised by our apartment hosts so I am not sure of the name of the operators. It cost us 1000 Baht each for a half day trip, which wasn't the cheapest but they assured us it was good value given they didnt cut corners.

Its not the best reef you can snorkel, but certainly you can do it. There are better places in Thailand.
