I thought it was a difficult climb, but me and my wife were able to complete the climb (from and back) in 4.5 hours.
There recently introduced a fee to take the climb - 200 baht/person for foreigners and 40 baht/person for Thai locals.
The views are amazing.

As at least one other reviewer highlights, this is very much a hike rather than a nature trail. Whilst there are information boards on the route to the viewpoints at the summit, I didn't really take in the flora and fauna en route to the top as I was too focused on the ground directly in front of me and putting one foot in front of the other.
It's hars work to get to the summit, particularly in hot weather, but the views are really worth it, as photos will show.
Another reviewer (Azmie12) has left some good advice on how to find the start point - so scroll down!

I have done it 8 times already, once on my own. It's such a great workout and a great way to spend time in Nature, breathing fresh air, observing wild animals and the stunning, absolutely gorgeous views of Krabi. It's slightly challenging, but not hard at all. Roughly 4km up hill, 500m above sea level. Go for it! It's free, donation based for the park rangers actually!

Rent a scooter for 200baht to get to this place. Got lost along the way using google map. Can't find the entrance /start of the hike. Ask the locals but don't help much due to communication problem. Luckily, there's a shopkeeper who helps us when we're lost,. She told us getting there by Google will normally get you lost as that area the GPS is weak. She told us to head to AMARI VOGUE KRABI hotel. The starting point of the hike is just few metres ahead of the resort. Registered at the ranger booth, drop 100baht as tips in the tip box and we start the hike. Quite a tough hike up even though we are active triathletes. Managed to reach the famous peak in abt 3hrs, climbing at a relax pace and enjoying the aerial views. Getting down is faster at 1hr 45mins. Advisable to have at least 1 litres of water, some snacks(pls do not litter, throw the rubbish in the bins when you get down) and wear a proper footwear like sneakers, trail sandals or better still hiking boots for a good climb.

We did read the recommandations before we started the walk. It was a exiting trip with info about different levels. It was challengeing to get Up but IT was al worth it. View was perfect at the top. It was worse going down. REMEMBER 1-1,5 LITER OF WATER PER PERSON

Got there by moped around 9am, roads are good condition. Paid 20baht each to park. There isn't a set price to park - instead a tip box with a 100baht supermarket sticker on it.
Also you leave your mobile number with the ranger telling him which bike is yours.
The first 15 minutes was "ok", for someone who is not normally fit or gym going, this was a rough terrain with a few rocks. Then came the steep paths. Then using trees to propel upwards. There are 2 stair cases, which at the time looked a god send, but climbing them, my legs went to jelly! There is a bench in the middle to take a rest.
When you think that you have reached the top, you have to climb up the steeper boulders to reach the crest.
The Instagram photo that everyone wants is 2 minutes from here! It is SO worth it. It had caution tape as a precaution, and about midday a ranger did come to the top of the peak too.
I wouldn't advise taking children.
I would advise at least 2 litres of water each and maybe a snack at the top.
You need sunscreen for the top - most of the hike is through shaded jungle, so mosquito spray is a good idea.
I would advise taking a towel - there is a waterfall and a river on the route too, to freshen your feet or face.
I would advise wearing hiking boots or trainers / sneakers.
There are a few view points up the top, which give you different perspectives. We spent about 40 minutes taking photos and taking in the views.
We spent about 4.5 hours here.

We headed up at around 0720, this was great as when we reached the summit approximately 90 minutes later it was empty, just saw a two local groups walking down as we headed up. It states on a sign that the place opens at 0800 although this can be ignored and a guard just waved us through on foot.
Views are amazing and got some great photos. Majority of the walk is shaded, you do need decent shoes or at least everyday trainers as it’s very uneven and slippery at times.
If you see a sign for a pond, ignore it and keep heading for the viewpoint, the pond is basically a small stagnant hole and there is nothing to see there.
We allowed 5 hours to go up and down and for photo times etc, could be done in 4 with a nice break at the top. I would definitely head up again

Wear proper shoes or hiking sandals. It's straight up and down the mountain. Harder than you think bit views are great.

We did it today, 1 h 25 mins to the top without any real breaks, 15 mins at the top and then 1 h 15 mins to the bottom with a couple of breaks. 3 hour round trip overall, and so completely worth it! The views are incredible, we saw lizards on our way and giant ants. It is quite a difficult hike (we had hiking boots), and it’s better to start earlier in the morning (we went at 10am, some people were already there from 8:30am), as on our way down we could feel how much hotter and more humid it got towards the bottom half of the hike. We rented a scooter and drove there, free to park and enter, you just have to register before you set off for safety. If you’re willing and able, I highly recommend it!

Hello, I will be making this hike in approximately 4 weeks. We will arrive to Krabi the evening before leaving no time to contact the rangers station before it closes.. We are only coming for one night to make this hike. We must begin by 6 am in order to get up and down and catch the ferry to our next destination. I have read opens at 8 am. Is this strictly enforced? Is there a way to contact someone somehow to make arrangements to climb earlier?

We were there last week and there were many people whom had already logged in the rangers book before us and we arrived at 08. Hope this helps

I am also wondering if there is a way to Ao nang from Phi Phi Don besides the ferries? I need to reach Ao nang in the early a.m.

If you are on Phi Phi Don island, so AO Nang can only be reached by ferry. Next, you can take a taxi from the pier to Tab Kak Hang Nak
как добраться из Пхукета? есть ли организованные экскурсии из Пхукета?

К сожалению экскурсионных программ с Пхукета до Tab Kak Hang Nak нет. Вы можете арендовать Машину и поехать самостоятельно.

Can anyone suggest a cheap way to get here from Krabi Town, please? I don't have an international licence and my insurance doesn't cover me hiring a scooter/bike.
