After spending so much time in the van and going to a REALLY BAD buffet. Seeing a little village of people with heavy rings around their necks did nothing for me. I understand there is significant history here with their traditions, but I am also...More

My son and I went to the Karen Tribe Village. These people came from China and now are living in a tourist trap put on display for our oohs and awes. It was interesting and educational. We learned about their traditions and how they cooked...More

I guess there are many or at least a couple of different villages. We did have a car and follows road signs south of Mae Hong Song. After at least 12 km on small roads we had to take a boat 25 minutes to reach...More

We got the amazing boat trip (small blue sign, a few Km south of Mae Hong Son) through beautiful countryside - the best way to find the village. It cost 600 baht return for the boat and 250 baht per person to enter the village....More

A visit to a long neck village (there are at least two close to Mae Hong Son) is part of many one-day tours (and also was part of the tour we booked). The Lisu (that is the name of the tribe) wear heavy golden rings...More

Depressing experience to see how refugees live and are exploited as a tourist attraction. If you cannot refrain to go, at least buy some souvenirs from them to support their community.

We cycled from Mai Hong Son which took around 1 hour & 15 mins and meant we could take in some beautiful scenery on the way to the village. The road is smooth if quite hilly, perfect for cycling! There are around 7 small fords...More

We thought this was a pretty cool experience! Very different. You walk around the village and they seem to be just living their lives... Making money from the tourists... They hand make things and sell them at a very reasonable price. They welcome pictures and...More

Actually the new generation they will not practice this culture anymore, as they need to go to school and work like others. Not worth to pay additional to see one of the old lady with neck rings on. The village has also other tribes without...More

We visited the Long Neck people as part of a tour so the fee may have been included in that. Regardless of whether it was or wasn't you should purchase some of the handicrafts at the village. This is how they make money... More
