Went there for a bite. There were a good amount of food vendors to choose from. Sat by the lake and had some spicy noodles with orange smoothie. It wasn't crowded, but good amount of people that it didn't seem empty. The atmosphere was peaceful and the locals were nice.

A pretty and tranquil lake during the day with a bustling street market at night. The vendors sell all kinds of food and hilltribe wares. No drinking or smoking is permitted which maintains a calm atmosphere. The lit temple provides a lovely backdrop.

The ancient place where elephants came to get washed. It's magical to see two Wats mirrored on the lake. In the evening merchants and food vendors set up to sell their handicrafts and ethnic foods.

During the day the lake sea is calm with no crowds, quite lovely to gaze at and walk around. At night the market comes alive and the lake area is full of food vendors, local crafts from some hill tribes, music, sky lanterns and the lit up pagoda. Find some good street food and sit down with the locals. Watch... More

I didn't visit MaeHongSon Lake in the daytime but at night it was beautiful.... the lights from the temple reflecting on the lake was a very pretty view from the second floor of the coffee house we had dinner. The market below was buzzing and the street food smelling was amazing. Lots of interesting stalls without any harassment to buy... More

Friends and I stayed at a hotel near and learned that the lake turns into a night market around 5pm. The lake area is filled with tourists, locals, and students. The market sells food, trinkets, and apparel. On the weekends you might be able to buy lanterns to set off. We set off a few since we didn't get to... More

Looks relaxing in the daytime and beautiful, peaceful in the night time. Been there twice in the evening. Many food stalls, shopping and pubs there. You are able to bargain on cheaper clothing and accessories.

Very nice lake.. despite it's location in the city's center it is very peaceful. Beautiful view. Worth going in the evening and trying different street foods. Can also go during the day to relax and read a book ..

Just visited the lake with family and friends, good fun! The city is very quiet at night but the area around the lake become a market where you can find local products and gifts. The Best spot is in front of the temple where they sell lanterns that you can light up and fly.
