About
Built in the 14th century, this mosque is an excellent example of classical Ottoman architecture. Of special interest are the intricately carved wooden pulpit, and the three-tiered fountain.

It is really grand, not only in size and popularity, but also beautiful features such as the ablution fountain, mihrab and especially the wonderful calligraphy everywhere. I am not a religious man, but I sensed the spiritual importance of the place, together with some hundreds of worshippers.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 27 November 2023

A bit different architecture compare to the other mosque design in Turkiye. There are ablution area in the middle of the prayer hall. The mosque size is also quite big, and easy to reach especially for visitors around the Grand Bazaar & Osmangazi area.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 January 2024

- SAR28Colombo, Sri Lanka122 contributionsBeautiful place for a quick visitThe grand mosque is just outside the Koza Han (bazaar) near what looked like a main square. It's free to walk in for all (except during prayer times I would think) - a good experience to go in and gave a look. They provide head scarves and skirts for any visitors who are not dressed appropriately.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 May 2024

WEarrived in Bursa and visited this wonderful mosque. We waited whilst the midday prayer service was being held. So many people praying a.even overflowing outside. We waited and had Cay (tea) at on of the street vendors that sold tea to people who waited by the mosque. The mosque is awe inspirig to say ther least.

The mosque was built by Bayezid I to celebrate the important victory over the crusader forces at Nicopolis. The mosque dates back to 1399, however it was possibly burned shortly after by Tamerlane, and it was heavily damaged in the 1800’s by a large earthquake. It was mostly reconstructed at that time, so the interior feels newer than some of the other mosques in Turkey.

Peace, there is nothing else to say, the only problem is that when I performed the Friday prayer, there was no air conditioning in the mosque. The congregation, overwhelmed by sweat and heat, could not focus on the prayer, so many people were left without air. A solution is needed as soon as possible.

In the city center, on Atatürk Street. It was built by Yıldırım Bayezid, one of the Ottoman sultans, in 1400. The first imam of the mosque, Süleyman Çelebi.14. The mihrab, which bears the traces of the 19th century and has hourglasses on the outer corners, was completed in 1751. A magnificent mosque. Definitely a must see.

Love this place. I did have too much expectations at the beginning since I thought this will be a typical mosque. However, it was an impressive place. If you like history, you will love it. This mosque is different than others. There is a nice pool at the center. This pool was lightened by a huge roof window. Every corner of this building has unique historical details. One side you can see real black cover from Kabe, and bunch of others. You will feel that you go back to centuries back. Love this place. One of must go places in my list...

I love the wonderful big calligraphy in Ulu Camii. Beautiful and I've read somewhere those calligraphy were not glued to the wall of the mosque. There is fountain in the middle of the mosque so visiting the mosque in early morning with the sound of water splash, it was very peaceful.
I stayed in Artiç Hotel just across Ulu Camii and the view from the 6th floor of the hotel is another amazing experience.

Located in the marketplace area, outside was bustling with peddlers , locales. Inside the mosque however was solemn. Architecture was splendid. Recognized as one of the most important site of worship in Islam. It is a must visit when you are in Bursa. Doesn’t matter if you a Muslim or not .

If i should take a taxi, what taxi company should i take? Because i heard that it is not safe for foreigner to take taxi in Turkey especially for female solo traveler. Thanks a lot in advance.
