The Fairy Chimneys in Göreme - Cappadocia need to be experienced to be believed. A must see natural geological attraction ... there are many Chimneys all over the region and a good place to start is the Göreme Open Air Museum. Here you will also see examples of Chimneys converted to habitation over the centuries as well. Photos do not do them justice, they need to be seen in real life to truly appreciate them. It is truly magical.

While there are chimneys & caves all over Cappadocia , you need to visit Fairy Chimneys to get a sense of the magnitude of the whole phenomenon. In first look the structures are quite weird but once you understand the history & geography behind, it’s quite fascinating.
It’s around 20 minutes from Goreme town & there are taxis available readily. The entire tour takes around 2 hours including to & fro to the town. There is a lot of walking so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

A really nice place to visit. The fairy chimneys are strange how they were formed like that. You can walk for a while and explore the different areas. It was hot when we went so we only last about 40
Minutes but you could easily take longer. It’s easy to get a taxi too and from here and no need to go on
An organised tour. A good tourist shop there as well with really reasonable prices.

We visited by ATV but the viewpoints were less spectacular than usually shown in advertising. However the uniqueness as a geological landmark makes it worth the visit.

Definitely go out there. It is a site to see. Our guide explained how these fairy chimneys came out to be and why they are called such. We were able to walk in the valleys and have some pictures that we will cherish. I am grateful that we got to visit.

Carved by lava, wind, rain etc over hundreds of thousands of years, wonderful hiking in the area.
We also hot air ballooned across this valley which is very special...the balloons descend so low that you can almost touch the chimneys!
