Good place to take a trick photograph in the underground tunnel. Ruins are interesting. Fountain water has warm water coming out of it.

On surface, it may be just a ruin, but it has a long history of being an ancient health centre. See what ancient people do here: there is an incubation room, treatment building, a sacred fountain that still has fresh spring water running out, a bathing pool etc

The ruins talk for themselves, showing off their history of medical care in all its facets, eg psychology, health care and recuperation. Don't overlook this site below the old Pergamon.

The Asclepion was an ancient healing temple and medical centre and is located at the base of the Pergamon Acropolis. Weather it was spiritual or physical, some of the early treatments included massage, mud baths, herbal remedies and psychotherapy. There was even a theatre built here, to entertain the patients who needed longer healing periods. An absorbing experience of discovery... More

Don't overlook this amazing ruins. Originally a spa and the birthplace of pharmacology. You can spend several hours wandering through the ruins including road in, healing fountain, incubating rooms, amphitheater, and more. Well worth the visit.

This is a special place for people, perfectly for those who like history and ancient stories and to learn. Makes your imagination go back thousands of year and think of a beautiful hospital and doctors helping people.

The sights here are amazing, in such good order. There are baths, springs and various rooms for consulting where just the floor layout is evident. Whilst they didn't realise it, sick people taken out of the city and down the mountain would have been helpful for contagious illnesses & diseases. Although it is a hospital much of the remedy centred... More

The Asklepieion of Pergamon is another ancient wonder to be found in Turkey. The site is what remains of the Roman version of a sanitarium where people went for their health. The ruins include the remains of spa rooms, sleep rooms, theatre, places of learning and much more. The natural spring waters are said to turn back youth if drunk... More

This site, whilst not huge is well worth the visit. The theatre, the tunnels and the paths are quite well preserved and the view back towards the Acropolis on the hill helps you picture the scale of the original town.
