What an amazing collection of Portugues furniture, religious artifacts, and musical instruments dating from the 16th Century to present day. I think the thing that surprised me most was the section on paleontology/archeology. I was greeted by a large fossil that took up an entire...More

Don't expect too much. Many of the objects displayed are replicas. There is furniture, lots of interesting maps, tiles, chinaware. Also if you read Spanish, there are helpful explanations. This museum is closed on Wednesday and there is no sign whatsoever on the outside. Use...More

It's a small museum located in Plaza Mayor with a collection of portuguese documents and objects. Colonia was first colonized by the portuguese. Obs.: you buy the museum ticket and can visit other 6 museums in Colonia (aprox. USD 4).

This is one of the small museums in this town. In a building from the colonial era it shows what the interior would have been like back then.

This small museum can be visited well under 15 minutes and you can still have a good flavour of what was the Portuguese life in Colonia across a few centuries. Good as a museum package

Colonia is a gorgeous place to visit on the ferry over from BA in Argentina - and this museum is a good place to visit.

I went there twice. On a Thursday afternoon, quite after 4:30pm, and it had just closed. There was just a small sign saying the short opening hours, nothing else. Came back the following day, a Friday, within open hours. It was closed. Asked around. The...More

One of the larger museums in Colonia (but still small) and one of my favourites. The Portuguese rooms are set out nicely, but my favourite part was the large collection of old maps of the world and South America, in particular. I would guess they...More

The five museums in Colonia all work on one ticket and you can see them all in about 1.5 hours. They are not world class museums and are not intended to be such. They are just intended to provide some ambience during your visit in...More
