About
Reaching Out is a social enterprise, training and employing persons with disabilities. Our artisans create beautiful gifts of high quality from tea ware patterned after that used by the Imperial family in Hue to elegant table ware and bedspreads of colourful silks. Our silver jewellery is designed in-house by our staff and made right on the premises. Customers are invited to visit the workshop which is right behind the retail store to watch how their purchases have been made. Our staff are willing to answer your questions and of course can tell you the details of the processes by which your gifts are crafted. They will also proudly show you to our Tea House, where you can experience a cup of coffee or tea, served in the traditional Vietnamese manner by our speech and hearing impaired staff.

    Excellent Experience
Attended a Lantern Making Workshop delivered with infinite patience and great humour by Ni. With the help of her assistants everyone managed to create a lantern. Some individuals efforts, though, were better than others! The session ended with drinks and light refreshments. What a great organisation which really deserves the support of tourists visiting Hoi An.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our Lantern Making Workshop, we are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the experience! We take pride in providing a fun and supportive environment for all our participants to create their own lanterns, and it's so lovely to hear that you had a wonderful time with Ni and her assistants. We're happy to hear that everyone managed to create a lantern and that some individuals were even able to create exceptional pieces! Our aim is to provide a space where participants can express their creativity, and we're glad that this goal was achieved. Ending the session with drinks and light refreshments is always a nice touch, and we're thrilled that you appreciated it as well. Thank you for your kind words about our organization, and we truly appreciate the support of all tourists visiting Hoi An. We hope to see you again soon for more creative adventures!

Beautiful crafts for gifts or souvenirs
This store has beautiful ceramics, jewelry, scarves and more. I bought a number of gifts to bring back home to family including cloth bags, scarves, and plates. They wrapped them well for me to travel with. Aside from the beautiful goods, it is a peaceful place to browse and shop. Prices are listed on the items. Staff are helpful and one of the ladies who did stitching on the scarves I bought was there working. Other staff were working on their crafts that you could observe. Highly recommend this for high quality souvenirs/gifts with a meaningful mission.

    Fantastic lantern making workshop
Fantastic experience. Ni ( pronounced Knee) was awesome. She was welcoming and extremely well spoken. She explained what this organization does and how it helps different ability people. ( They do not use the term disability). The others helping her to help us were also lovely. Our lanterns turned out beautifully and after our craft making we were treated to refreshments. We were then able to shop in their store and see some of their staff hard at work in the workshop. Highly recommend a visit to this company!

Beautiful tea house with a fantastic purpose
Fantastic experience. This central tea house, which offers coffee and tea tasting sets and produces their ceramic in house, was the best tea house experience I’ve ever been to, made even more pertinent given the overarching purpose of the tea house. The waiting staff, all of whom are either visual impaired or deaf, invite you to use queue blocks to communicate and sit in quiet so as to enjoy the calmness of the silence. This makes the experience all the more meaningful, as you try the delicious teas and coffees on offer alongside homemade biscuits and cookies. The ceramics are a treat in themselves, and you can purchase handmade ceramics in the shop around the back of the tea house. Fantastic cause, perfectly executed.

We went here with our tour to make lanterns and what a wonderful experience we had making lanterns

Everything had been well prepared and we were guided through the process by the team from the centre who were so helpful when things didn’t quite go to plan. Their message is quite simple, they aren’t disabled, they simply have different abilities, and certainly have a great sense of humour as the whole experience was very enjoyable.

What’s more, we left with a lantern each to take home to remind us of the day.

We attended a lantern making class at Reaching out, where we not only learned to make a lantern but also to hear the story of this wonderful organisation set up to provide opportunities for people of disability (PWD’s) to learn skills and gain meaningful employment so that they are able to integrate fully with their communities and lead independent and fulfilling lives. We met some of the disabled artisans who make many of the goods on display for sale here. It was a very rewarding experience to see the opportunities given to people who had a real disadvantage in life because of their disability.Finished the visit with coffee and biscuits, lovely.

The shop is in back of tea house which is worth stopping at for some respite from busy old town. Shop includes jewelry, crafts and beautiful tea sets. I'm a tea drinker myself but lean toward porcelain mugs while these are more delicate!
