Reaching Out is a social enterprise, training and employing persons with disabilities. Our artisans create beautiful gifts of high quality from tea ware patterned after that used by the Imperial family in Hue to elegant table ware and bedspreads of colourful silks. Our silver jewellery is designed in-house by our staff and made right on the premises. Customers are invited to visit the workshop which is right behind the retail store to watch how their purchases have been made.

Our staff are willing to answer your questions and of course can tell you the details of the processes by which your gifts are crafted.

They will also proudly show you to our Tea House, where you can experience a cup of coffee or tea, served in the traditional Vietnamese manner by our speech and hearing impaired staff.

We visited and ended up buying all we could afford. The most beautifully made craftsmanship I have seen in years. The support given by this institution to his members is so beautiful that I don't feel like buying anywhere else. Please visit and I am sure you will buy at least one or two gifts. The people working there are... More

We were referred here after I asked to buy something in the teahouse. We didn't find the item we were looking for but bought some other gifts. More expensive than the average tourist shop, but not your average products either. really original crafts and for a good cause. When we were checking out the manager sent someone back to the... This is an organisation that sells high quality handicrafts and jewellry made by disabled craftspeople. They also have a teahouse nearby. I bought a beautiful pair of silver earrings. A great place to buy gifts (or treat yourself) if you want a special souvenir, or are tired of the markets. Plus it's even better because the funds go towards a... More

Reaching Out is a social enterprise, rather than a charity. We apply sound business practises and fair trade principles to ensure a stable, safe and profitable workplace for all of our team members. Stunning shop. The talents of the people who contribute to the retail stock is fantastic. So many beautiful things as well as the contributions going towards the craft people behind their making makes it a trip definitely with making.

I am not a shopper and in our month in Southeast Asia, I only shopped twice and both times were at Reaching Out! I am so grateful to have learned about Reaching Out through our hotel. Reaching Out is a private enterprise that hires “differently able” artisans. As you walk through the store, you can see photos and biographies of... More

Thank you Sheryl for the lovely review. Just to clarify, Reaching Out is a social enterprise, meaning that yes, we operate with sound business practises and fair trade principles, and are not an NGO, but we are "people before profits" and reinvest all proceeds. Your grandmother obviously knew what we know and that is that meaningful work and full lives... More

I bought an earring and necklace set when in Vietnam last year and had to go back and buy something new again this year. The shop has such interesting pieces of one off pottery, jewellery, children's stuffed toys etc and it is quite humbling knowing disabled people have made everything to such a high standard The staff cleaned the silver... I loved this place - haven't found a shop with such high quality and pretty cuttlery in Vietnam before. They also sell beautiful jewellry. The physically disabled artisans work in the back, so you can actually check out how the ceramics etc. are done. Plus you support a good cause. Definitely worth a visit!

This is a partner to the Reaching Out Teahouse which I have already reviewed and recommended. All of the staff -- craftsmen and sales persons alike -- has some form of physical disability that likely renders them unemployable elsewhere for no good reason. They're all very capable and the quality of the crafts is testament to that. We looked particularly... More

I visited 'Reaching Out' on my first evening in Hoi an and thought 'take note to return, the quality is good'. Over the next few days we did a fair amount; of walking: around the market; biking to the beach; enjoying the lantern charms of an evening in town; and the photogenic location of the town itself on its river-way...
