I have visited this museum often over the years. I think they have made a huge effort recently to revitalise it. In the central area there are cases of terrifying snakes, fascinating! The basic layout of the museum is unchanged and is superb. So many gems from historical objects to stuffed birds and animals, to cases of butterflies to a... More

I had an extensive tour of the museum today. The first hall (large animals) and the mining exhibition are somewhat interactive with the visitor walking through interesting spaces (and not just glass cases)

I don't exaggerate when I say this is a world class museum enclosed in a time capsule from 1980s. The animal exhibits are superb and not in the least macabre and the mounted elephant is magnificent. Once visited this site in the early 1990s. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the place is still well kept and more informative with a rich history of Zimbabwe from the colonial era. Easily accessible from City centre.

Having been to the museum before,I couldn't wait to take my kids to the awesome, historical place. Unfortunately, when we got there,it was dark save for the reception. Apparently there had been no electricity since early morning and they have no back up generator. We were so disappointed, and there were supposed to have been showing movies also. Obviously, with no electricity that wasn't... More

The country under one roof! Learn about the early settlers, the migration of people right to the current day changes. And mix this up with fantastic displays of animals, flora and fauna. Don't leave the Museum til the end of your visit to Bulawayo - see it first and you will better appreciate the rest! Bulawayo - "Path of Blood"... More

Truely a unique and under-advertised gem of bulabayu. We were going to skip the museum. It was pouring buckets and we had planned on walking. Walk we did. And we most certainly did enjoy!!! Do not miss this!! Historically interesting. Biologically awakening!
