Nice visit

Nice museum, with English descriptions. Not too big, not too small, just fine to keep good memories.

Unique, with large exhibits, of one of Japan's most (historically) important families. I have been the 4 times and I do not tire of the impact and beauty of the displys. It is not the largest museum but it is my favorite.. and I have been to hundreds of museums around the world. walk slow when you go.

This was a late addition to our itinerary as we thought it was going to rain. Together with the gardens (see other review) it turned out to be the highlight of our day. The museum has some amazing exhibits from the Tokugawa period and they are mostly in extraordinary condition. It is easy to imagine a samurai striding through the... More

Great building with beautiful vistas out to the garden and grounds. Some highly informative displays about life in the palace. Also some first class exhibits including the scrolls. Some are copies but still marvellous. Combine this visit with a walk round the stunningly good gardens.

this museum was just outstanding. All displays minimalistic in the Japanese way. Samurai costumes on display were amazing.

A relatively small museum but interesting. The only disappointing thing was the lack of detail about the Tokugawa family. I expected to see more family artifacts and more on samurai.

Impressive collections, some even being passed down from the first shogunate, Tokugawa Ieyasu. This private museum was founded in 1931 by the 19th head of the Owari Tokugawa family for the preservation of the priceless treasures being inherited through centuries.

I was dissapointed because I came for the Genji scrolls, having read the book. They were not on display and it is unclear if they would ever be. The other items are well displayed. It is poignant to think that this was the most powerful family in Japan for over 250 years (covering from the reign of James 1st to... More

It is a nice little museum, with some national treasures and lots of history of the country. It is next to the Tokugawa gardens so you can visit both. A must stop if you are in Nagoya.
