Beautiful, but small

Both the location and especially the building is great. The collection of glass art and art nouveau is not that big, but does contain beautiful pieces.

Glass artifacts (lamps, bottles), and furniture. Tribute to Parisian Art Deco. Only if you have extra time to spend in Takayama.

Very good exhibition of history of Takayama. Spent around 1 1/2hrs walking around museum. A lot of detail on history of the area dating back many centuries..

Fab art deco collection, such a visual treat in such a lovely setting. The collection is impressive and so beautiful! Definite must if in Takayama. The cafe is fabulous too, overlooking Japanese Alps drinking organic red wine after exploring the museum was superb way to end my visit to such a special museum. Go visit!

We had read about this museum in Lonely Planet but were completely gobsmacked at this beautiful collection of Art Deco and Art Nouveau. Beautiful Lalique fountain and works by Lalique Daum Tiffany and so on and amazing furniture. The building itself is graceful and stylish too. The cafe looked lovely but as there was a private function taking place we... More

After 8 days of Shinto and Buddhists shrines and temples, it was a treat to see something very different. This museum houses a collection or art glass and 1920's wood furniture. The museum itself is a treat, very modern in a very old town. It has a large museum shop and restaurant as well. We spent about an hour wandering... More

If you're a fan of design, glass, or Art Deco this is a wonderful private collection made open to the public. This museum is a fine example of what one might do if they were wealthy, traveled the world, collected fine art and wanted to share their collection with generations to come. The museum is a piece of art in... More

I enjoyed visiting this art gallery. It was classy and well planned. Its main focus is glassware and some interior design stuff. If thats not your interest, there is no more.

We just came across this museum by accident whilst walking from the Folk Village area. The Charles Rennie Mackintosh themed posters alerted us to the museum which is dedicated to Art Nouveau . The building was contemporary and the displays were beautifully curated and presented. Mackintosh, Lalique, Gallo and many other noted artists whose work had been influenced by Japan... More

It was a review in TripAdvisor that alerted us to this elegant Museum of Art. It has a superb collection of art nouveau glassware including Lalique. It also has some beautiful art nouveau furniture arranged in purpose built Roma. It is beautifully located on a hill above the city and has a very pleasant cafe with outdoor seating and a... More
