I was pleasantly surprised on how much I learned about the use and manufacturing of leaf from gold bars. Take the time and buy a trinket, some are very nice and affordable.

Our family - including 2 teenage boys had a most enjoyable afternoon doing a gilding workshop at Sakuda. We visited the gold leaf museum first and were all fascinated with the process of making the gold leaf. So we visited Sakuda Store one street behind...More

One more must-see place in the Higashi Old Town is Sakuda Gold & Silver Leaf Crafts (not the store in the district, but its main store, a little walk from there). You get a tea with gold leaves in it, introduced to the gold leaf...More

Participated in the Gold Leaf Art and Craft work. The staffs were very patient and hospitable. We picked some ornaments that were reasonably priced. We enjoyed our time while working on our own designs and covered with the gold leaf provided.

We learned how gold leaf is made from blocks of solid gold that are imported from other countries. It is an amazingly labour intensive process and very interesting. The shop sells beautiful objects, the staff very friendly. Together with a visit nearby of the Gold...More

The staff were super friendly and accomodating. We got our own private workshop as we were the only English speaking people at the workshop. Very happy with our chopsticks though we both chose very different patterns.
