This wonderful place houses a market which explores almost everything made in Niigata Prefecture. Sake, fish, tea, artworks both decorative and useful. We also saw a demonstration of taiko... More

Place to buy authentic food products of Niigata. Replication of what can be purchased at many train and souvenir shops. 35 minute bus ride from Niigata station, 240 yen one way. Personally, my time would've been better spent shopping @ Niigata City train station and surrounding areas. We were in and out of the village in 30 minutes.

There's a decent, interactive history of Niigata museum here, but most of the place is given over to selling Niigata-related food and merchandise. It's nice enough as that goes, but nothing to go out of your way for.
