Another Nice Re-constructed Castle

Just across a street from the JR station. Best shooting location is the JR station platform no.2, around the 14th-15th car parking area.

The five levels, six-storied castle was originally built in 1622 and then rebuilt with concrete, in 1966.The ishigaki stone walls seem a little sloppy compared to other castles, with many gaps in between the rocks. Fukuyama Castle is a fairly attractive looking castle, from the outside, but the same cannot be said from the inside. There is a pretty poor... More

There aren't any placards in any language other than Japanese, making the castle trip either a study in difficult kanji, or just a run up the stairs to see the view. Since this is a ferroconcrete reproduction, the inside of the building feels like an institutional museum (which it is).

A very small cousin compared to Himeji castle. Consequently, virtually empty of visitors. ¥500 admission. Easy walk to the top tier with interesting exhibits on each floor. Lovely views of Fukuyama. The original castle was destroyed in WW2 so this is a replica.

This castle locates opposite the JR and shinkansen station , very easily accessible by your own feet. The castle is transformed into museum with many collections displayed only in Japanese; so unfortunatey for foreigners like us. But the view on the top is very impressive. One bad thing for our visit is no-aircodition for hot summer time in Japan.

The castle grounds is medium in scale but it's relaxing to walk around anytime of the year. The castle grounds boasts couple of historic structures of cultural importance. The reconstruction of the main keep is picturesque and compliments the wide castle foreground. It also exhibits a modest collection of historical artifacts and history. The top of the main keep is... Stopped by here on the way back from visiting Onomichi since we had to transfer trains here. Grounds is one giant park like most Japanese castles. There's a nice garden in the waaay back. You cna probably finish looking through the castle in 30-45 mins as it's not that big.
