It is the second day of the new exhibition with America-theme sculptures. I wasn't sure of coming to the museum, but I'm glad I did. The sculptures are very impressive and you have English texts everywhere. I only wish there were more videos depicting the process ; there is one video presenting the whole exhibit and interviewing the sculptors, which... More

It is a must visit in Tottori and just a few minutes walk from Sand Dunes. The sand craft exhibits are excellent and remarkable. You may spend 30-45 minutes to go via the whole museum. BTW, you have a special concession entry fee for foreign visitor.

The sand museum is best visited when you can also take in the light show. The exhibits are excellent and are created by international sand artists from around the world. A brief bio of each artist is included. This museum is very close to the sand dunes so it is easy to visit both of these. There is also a... More

Btw tip save a ¥100 on the entrance fee by buying from the tourist office at the north exit of Tottori station. It's not a huge place (not including live shows had a 3D show lasted about 10 mins). The indoor sections and outdoor sections will Take about 30/40 mins at most. But you have to marvel at the creativity... More

We went to see the South America exhibits in late November. First of all, we took full advantage of "1,000 yen taxi" upon arriving JR Tottori Station. It is a 3-hour taxi service for foreign visitors, which only costs 1,000 yen per person, and we, as tourists from a foreign country, signed up at the Tottori City International Tourist Support... Thought this might be a bit lame but couldn't have been more wrong. I was blown away by both the quality and scale. The sculptures are by the world's top sand artists and would be a major draw card in any other major international city. If you are in Tottori or even passing then this should be a mandatory visit.

This was a very different and unique art museum. There were different themes for exhibition, When I visited this Sep, the topic was on South America due to 2016 Brazil Olympics. It was next to Sand Dunes and definitely worthy of a visit.
