Once again we spent part of our long airport layover in Narita town which we always enjoy. The temple is one of the two highlights for us. It is relatively easy to find. Turn right out of the Keisei Narita Station or Left out of the JR Narita Station and follow the main (small) road. After about 15 minutes, you... More

If staying in Narita you have to visit the temple. Try to get there at 9am for the ceremony. Great walk through streets from train station to temple.

Usually the flowers start blooming mid-May to early July. Adjuscent to the temple precinct streches this hydrangea field in 2 acre land. Just two stops South from Narita Kesei station and a pleasant 15 minute walk brings you to this tranquil temple complex. During a lovely stroll around I came across the museum. It is well worth the fee (700 Yen) to walk around with the audio guide to listen to the heroic story of Sogo.

This tale of courage is so nationally epic that the famous visit this little place. It is also one of the most popular Kabuki plays in Japan. I read about Sogo Reido in my hotel's in-room tourist brochure. It's only about a 6-minute train ride from Keisei Narita station to Keisei Sogosando station. My local friend then drove us to... The temple is located about 13kms from Narita Airport and is worth a look if you have time and have already been to the big temple at Narita. The temple worships a man known as Sogo who saved 100, 000 people in the Edo period. You can walk around inside the main temple and see the main alter and 5... More
