Time to play pirates

The kids loved the themed boat and took lots of pics with the dressed up actors on deck. You're supposed to see mount Fuji, but it was covered by clouds.

Went on the boat crossing of Lake Ashi using our Hakone pass. The boats are made like old galleons, and make three stops on the round trip but you can get off at any stop. They tend to get very busy especially with tour groups. There is a bar selling cold and hot drinks, and nibbles. Try and get onto... More

We were part of a tour group that took a very short ride, one stop, along Lake Ashi. Picture perfect adds make the lake look surreal and tout it to be crystal clear but neither it nor the boat ride were anything to write home about. Also, there were lots of swan paddle boats and pirate ships which somehow cheapened... More

Well situated for mountainous views. What a shame that it poured with rain on the day of our visit, we still enjoyed it but we didn't see it at its best. A lone fisherman made a good photo and we all chatted on the ferry which was clean and we'll run. A good day out and worth returning on a... More

We went on the lake cruise after a tour of the area with the hope to see Mount Fuji but unfortunately nothing as it was far too cloudy. The boat is a kind of gimmicky pirate boat including said pirate but it got us where we wanted in about 30 minutes. Would I do it again? I don't think so!... More

We took a short boat ride on Lake Ashi. It was pleasant, but nothing special. We weren't able to see Mt Fuji. I wouldn't make a special trip to see this lake.

A gentle ride in a western style catamaran is a pleasant way to spend an hour on this lake. The water is calm and there are plenty of photo opportunities along the way. There is comfortable seating inside, or you can venture outside for better views.

We visited on a day trip from Tokyo. Took a little while to get there on bullet train and then transfer. We used our Japan rail pass and had to pay for most of the transfers and trips there. I'm not sure if the free pass would have been cheaper in the end. We caught the no.2 bus from Hakone... More
