Very nice and quiet local shrine, away from all the tourists. We practically had the whole place to ourselves, which made for great pictures. However, we had a tough time finding the entrance of the shrine since its surrounded by apartment buildings - we fully walked around the entire block before we found it! It is not as fancy as some but I really enjoyed the laid back and authentic nature of this shrine. The gates were beautifully inscribed stone and I was lucky enough to see it in action. Since I didn't know the language I didn't know what was going on but I stayed back and out of the way and took... More

If you're lucky, you might see a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony, or blesing of a newborn child. As this shrine, is dedicated to the Sun Goddess, like Ise Jingu Shrine it displays architectural features that pre-date Chinese influences, for example the crossed roof beams on the main shrine building.

Small shrine but really calm and quiet. Great to add as an addition to your stamp collection. Recommend if you ever are in Yokohama.
