Nice drive up, you have pay at toll booth. Car park at top and good to get out and walk, which is not too taxing. Well worth it though for the great views and vistas of the surrounding area, quite breathtaking. Well worth the detour.

Easy to climb and effort paying view of Nara and neighbouring hills. Bring your own water as there is no fountain on the hill.

There are 2 entrances(north and south) to reach Mount Wakakusa. I choose north (where i paid 150yen for entrance fees)to start and south to decend. The ascending(north) was very steep and tiring. But the decending (south)was an easy hike. I enjoy the hike very much.

Worth a visit while you are at Touda-Ji, entrance is cheap and the views of Nara at the top are excellent. Great place to relax for a bit and get away from the crowds. There aren't many deer up there so you can catch your...More

Wakakusa Yama is located between Todaiji temple and Kasuga shrine. So, many tourists pass by this place, but as they don't have enough time, not many people come in. The entrance is really inexpensive. I strongly recommend you to enter and climb the hill. From...More

Going up the hill is easy, it won't take too long and it is not a hard hiking where you reach the peak exhausted. It is made of 3 hill. Which of them offer a better view than the one before. 2 ways to go...More

Wakarusa is about 15 minutes walk from Nara station. You can start the walk at either the North or South entrance, I would recommend the South because you have far more steps on the North side. It should take about 30 minutes to reach the...More

I have been hiking to this place many times but it is the 1st time I have been there when the cherry blossoms were blooming. It is always enjoyable & well worth the small entrance fee.

We took a ride by car from centre of Nara to Wakakusa Hill and then the small road back towards the park. You have to pay a fare to get their and on top of the hill you have to pay once more. As the...More

The mount wakakusa is composed of 3 hill. If you use the regular entrance (150yen), from the bottom to the first hill, you are using stairs. It took approximately 10/15min. To reach the 2nd and 3rd hill, no more stairs but... More
