I'm surprised it's #6 in Nara, the view is average, the temple is ordinary, 50m before there are stunning statues inside Hokke-dō temple, must see!

Nigatsudo is 5 minutes' hike from Todaiji but worth the detour. I'd even argue it's better than Todaiji. While not as high and impressive Nigatsudo has something of Kyoto Kyomizudera; built half on stilts you have a panorama. From the exit of Todaiji, follow the...More

Got the pleasure to visit this famous Hall at night! It was through a special tour with the Nara Park Hotel! It is cool since no one was around, the quiet ambiance and history it represented was awesome! One of the highlights of my trip!

Nigatsu-do and Sangatsu-do temples are a bit of an uphill walk from Todai-ji Temple. They are attractive, but modest compared to other temples on the park grounds (and in Japan generally). They are worth a visit but if you're tired, hot and cranky, your energy...More

Nagatsu-do, which is a part of Todaiji temple, is well known for its Omizutori ceremony. From the platform, like that of Kiyomizudera in Kyoto, you can enjoy a nice view.

Even though this might not be the most popular place to visit in a park that is full of amazing places, it's a great, contemplative spot to sit and watch the sun go down. Just to the left of the Daibutsu hall (when you stand...More

After visiting Todaiji, we walked uphill to Nigatsu-do. The temple is impressive and the views are beautiful. It I was a quick and nice visit.

We liked this temple as being authentic and close to Todaji temple. Our guide what happens during the fire festival. The walk up the temple is certainly worthwhile together with the walk down to the park.
