Whilst the focus is definitely on Tama, Nitama and all the cute merchandise in general, Wakayama Dentetsu is a good excuse to get away from the Kansai metropolitan areas. The line runs along a diverse route (fields, river, homes). At the end of the line at Kishi Station, several local markets / supermarkets are within walking distance. Perfect for last... More

Not a bad idea to visit Tama train and drop by at its cafe. The train is difference from normal train as the decoration is all about cat. However we didn't get on the train for the trip but spent time at cafe and souvenir shop which is great to visit too!

Yes, children, kids will be very happy with riding train on this line and yes the best designer in Japan Eiji Mitooka designed many of it trains, from strawberry train, toy train, present train, cat train of course. But the fact is, Kishigawa line is a very ......simple railway line with no special feature, there are temples, tourist attractions en... More

Somebody had a dream and had this brilliant idea to revitalize an ailing regional line. Ride the Wakayama Dentetsu and feel good about it. The day passport ticket lets you drop off at any station and rejoin anywhere you like for a day. Exploring the local villages at various stops makes it really interesting. And if you catch the timings... More

If you like cats, this could be the thing for you. There is one cat, a fairly fat one, and they call him/her the station master. Views along the line is great and it is certainly something that kids love.

there are 4 types of trains..the normal one, the strawberry, the toy and of course..the famed tama train. we did the tama and toy train(the strawberry train was not in service that day). the deco inside the tama train was pretty cute. the toy Train wasn't impressive. Nitama Chan is located in Kishi station and is always kept behind a... More

Travelling back and forth from Wakayama to Kishi, you can either travel with the Tama Cat Train or the Strawberry Train. You will reach Kishi, the final stop, where there is the Tama Cat Museum and Cafe. Highly recommended to cat lovers!

If you know about the Kishigawa line, chances are you probably want to go to the terminus station of the line i.e. Kishi Station, where the Tama Museum is. The Kishigawa line is accessible from JR Wakayama (platform 9 but don't worry, just look for the paw prints and cartoons of Tama). Staff there are also very helpful and will... More

It took us about 2 hours to get from Osaka Namba to Kishigawa Station. There are four trains - Tama theme, strawberry theme, toy theme and a new dog theme. Except for the dog theme, the rest have lovely interiors. The Tama theme train is really one of a kind, a novelty! Bookshelves filled with comics, toys in display shelves,... More
