If you have time, visit this place. A good place to relax. I am now just sitting by the water looking up what to do and where to go next. I could spend hours here. It's very quiet and peaceful.

This is a very nice Momoyama-style walking garden. The only distractions are the over-development of commercial activity (stores) near the entrance and the tall buildings that compromise the original views in the garden. I almost gave this a very good rating, but hold back because of these two factors. It is quiet though, a plus. And few visitors also make... More

A must see if you are in Kumamoto. We walked the grounds in the rain and it was delightful. The landscaping is beautiful.

This is a very pretty place, albeit small. You will circumvent the lake in 15 minutes. There is a 100 year old house where we were fortunate enough to see an exhibition on Bonseki It is the art of stone drawings on black lacquerware. An old art form that died out after the war. Bon=dish seki= stone. I had a... More

Take Tram "A" (or B depending where you're coming from) and hop off at Suizenji park. It's only a 5min walk and there are green street signs leading the way. Entry is ¥400 for adults and it's worth it just to get the beautiful entry ticket which features an art drawing of the garden. Go early as it's quite sunny... More

This made for a beautiful relaxing day out, feeding the fish and taking in the views and garden on a sunny day. Hardly any visitors and would definitely recommend!

It is such a beautiful landscaped garden With lakes and small shops and a few benches where one can sit Down and just admire the greenery. I found it is one of the best landscaped gardens I have seen.

Nice place to spend an hour or so. We were part of a tour. The entrance to the gardens is surrounded by tourist shops and restaurants. There is bathroom facilities around the gardens. You can purchase food for the fish as you enter.

This was my second visit to the gardens, and as with the first, it was an enjoyable and peaceful visit. The garden isn't too large but given the landscaping, it feels larger and more peaceful than you would expect. Visiting on a Wednesday, there were just a handful of other visitors there. Current admission prices is are 400 JPY per... More

This is a beautiful garden that's easily accessible by the city tram. It's very small so will take less than half an hour to walk around. There are many nice souvenir shops around, pls buy something to contribute to the after-quake economy!
