The tourist information center recommended this place and I have 1 day to spare to go somewhere outside the city. About 40 min from the city. The beach is small but beautiful. Expect some climbing but worth it.

You can see the blue ocean and hear the powerful wave sound. It is just a beautiful beach. There are lots of similar or more beautiful beaches in the world. The reason Japanese tourists visit this place is to see the statue of Ryoma Sakamoto, the most popular Samurai. He was born in Tosa (ancient name of Kochi), small town,... More

A beautiful and scenic Beach well worth a visit. Ask your hotel or the friendly ladies at the Kochi tourist information for the tide tables because the best time of the day to view the surf is, of course, at high tide. Across the bay there is a Shinto shrine on a rock (see foto ) which contrasts nicely to... More

We strolled along the beach and watched how the waves rolled. There is an aquarium nearby which is popular for families with kids. We crossed a small bridge which led us up to the top of hill. We really appreciated its natural beauty. Highly recommend.

Spend a few hours here if you like to take photos. Try to find some famous 5 color stones at the beach.

The first thing is that this beach has a fees entry. The beach is nice and well maintained its a pleasure to have a relaxing walk or just sit on the beach. This is a non swimming beach due to the strong flow that make very dangerous to swim. It is a good place to visit but dont know if... More

After my tour at Sakamoto Ryoma museum, I went to Katsurahama beach to enjoy the rest of the day. It's really a beautiful place! There's a long promenade that will take you to a small shrine closed to the ocean. There's also an aquarium if you come with kids.

It is a must for visitors to Kochi. The beach, although it is not allowed to swim here, is marvelous! Can you imagine that Ryoma (a hero of Kochi and a great contributor for the Meiji Restoration) once stood here!

I've been there a couple of times over the years, in summer and winter. The walk through the pines looking at the opposite side of the beach with the view on the little shrine up on a little rocky cape is lovely. We can make very good pictures. Then walk along the beach and go up to the shrine looking... More

I went there in Spring. The weather was nice. We ate at the beach our bento box, enjoyed a sun bath and the view. The beach and the sand are very clean. The children enjoyed the beach and playing with the peebles. Only one sad thing is, "no swimming allow" due to strong currents.

Thank Marcel B
