As others have said this church currently has scaffolding all around it but inside is still fine to visit. We enjoyed our quick visit here.

Like a jewellery box inside, lots of beautiful gold leaf. Still clearly a very spiritual place for many so please dress appropriately and be subtle with photos. Doing a good job to keep it worth viewing despite the extensive renovations underway.

Although scaffolding outside makes for a loss of photos, the inside is worth a view. We were there on a Sunday and enjoyed what we saw.

The cathedral is impressive. I have visited it a few times before. Today (March 2018) there were some heavy constructions being done on the cathedral, so it may be worth it to wait a few weeks/months if you are planning to visit.

Almaty doesnt have tons of great sights to see but this cathedral is well worth a visit. My favorite for sure in the city.
