We went there with a guide who led us on a hike from Lake 1 to 2. It was not an easy one especially for us city kids who were not too well prepared for the hike. We managed anyway, with the help of hiking sticks. If you're intending to hike to lake 2, do come prepared with good hiking... More

This place is so gorgeous and dreamy you just want to let yourself lost in it. We were fortunate to be staying at the guesthouse facing the lake hence we had the luxury of having our meals served at an area facing the lake against the backdrop of the beautiful mountains. Did some trekking as well and I must say... More

The lakes are absolutely stunning, but there is not much else. Lots of city driver get worried about taking their car to the lake with petrified trees so a lot of tourist find themselves walking a few kilometres. Worth it, but depending on season there may be nothing there. Other times there will be a yurt selling food and drink.... More

Got early, before the rain set in and hordes of people arrived. The trails can get very slippery. Definitely worth the drive.

Absolutely beautiful scenery. We highly recommend to do the three hours hike from the first to the second Kolsai lake. The second one is the most beautiful of the three Kolsay lakes. Enjoy!

Travelled by four wheel drive car to first kolsay lake and stayed at the zhibek zholy bed and breakfast. We rented a cottage with three rooms with wonderful views of the first lake. Next day we walked to the second lake, an 8 hour round trip. Hoped to see a bear but only found footprints of bears, saw lots of... More

Very beautiful area, a couple of hours driving from Almaty. We stayed at a farm in Kolsay, primitive but a great experience. Although the weather was bad (rain), and the road to hike between lake 1 and 2 was muddy, we really enjoyed the amazing beauty of the scenery and the national park. There is a possibility to rent horses... More

Our trip started on Friday evening at 9.30 PM by the Grand Voyages travel company from Almaty, the tours from which we bought on the Chocolife.kz website. First of all, the bus surprised us with its seats - they are just fixed and you cannot lie down and get some rest during this 6-hours road to Saty village. But the... More

I have visited Kolsai and Kaindy lakes twice: in August 2012 and in July 2016. It is extremely hard to get there, but the road definitely worth the view! One can stay in the village nearby called Saty. For 5000 tenge per night locals will provide you with bed and food. The food is incredibly good! The fee to visit... More
