Great view from the hilltop

Nice and easy walk from Chilomoni to the top. Stunning view once you are there. Definitely worth it both for pilgrims and tourists.

The Way of the Cross is a beautiful place, obviously designed and made with love. My friends and I are not Christians but we were touched by the atmosphere. The walk is not too hard and rewards you with beautiful views from beginning to end. The path is easy to follow once you are on it. To find the road... More

I walked the way of the Cross along in May 2015. It is very easy to go. Just take a minibus at Blantyre market, and get off at St James Church Chilomoni.

If you need a peaceful walk in the countryside that is not too taxing then this si for you! The path is easy to follow and there are lovely views to be had as you curl up the path, higher and higher. You dont have to be religious to appreciate the tranquillity of the walk, which is accentuated by the... More

I walked the way of the Cross with friend of mine in January 2012 while we were in Chilomoni half volunteering and fully enjoying this beautiful part of Malawi. The views are stunning and scenery gorgeous. I loved it. But for me the most rewarding part of traveling in any part of Africa are African people themselves and the way... More

I walked the Way of the Cross one week with a friend and we went back the following Saturday to walk the Way of the Rosary - a different route but on the same mountain just to the west of Blantyre. Starting from St James Church Chilomoni, each is a beautiful walk, each of which can be completed in a... More

I walked the way of the cross with my husband in October 2012 whilst we were in Malawi volunteering for the Krizevac Project whose founder was inspired to create the cross on the mountain. We both found it a moving experience and although not catholic both found the experience to be a reflective and emotional moment in our lives. The... More

The way of the cross, is set in a beautiful spot in Chilomoni Township, Blantyre Malawi. Follow the High street that takes you to St James Church (which you can not miss), and then follow the yellow signs, to the base of the mountain. The 15 bronze plaque stations of the Cross direct you up the mountain, and takes you... More

I've walked the Way of The Cross in Chilomoni several times over the last few years and it's the most rewarding couple of hours you can spend in Blantyre. Firstly there's the chance to hike up a beautiful mountain, through the eucalyptus forest to the higher woodlands with indigenous trees and wonderful views; then there are 15 world-class works of...
