A mixture of fear and fascination

We took the ferry from Penang to Langkawi. The boats are relatively safe, but should be restored. Everything looks a bit worn out. You should take headphones, as it can be loud.

II thought we travelling on the regular ferry which is ok. Instead we were crammed on the superfast boat. Given the weather we took 3.5 hours instead of 2.5 hours. It was pure misery. To be avoided at all costs. Make sure you know what "ferry" you're travelling on.

Took ferry from Penang to Langkawi. Departure very early in the morning, crossing was nice in itself as the sea was mirror-flat and it was sunny. However you should seriously consider flying with Air Asia instead. We found out that the price was nearly half of what the ferry was charging (at least for the date we had to travel)

Took the ferry fr langkawi to penang. Upon arriving we tried to go thru the nearest exit to the road but was stopped by guard that we have to go thru the main buildning. I was helping a young couple to get to their hotel which is 1 km away. There was a herd of taxi drivers greeting us with... More

We took the Ferry from Kaula Perlis to Langkawi . It took around 1 hour. We bought the tickets online . There wasn't any rush . Unless it is a long weekend you can take the ticket over the counter. They ride was stable and not bumpy .

Took Lanta -> Langkawi and Langkawi -> Penang. It sucks a bit that you can not go on the top of the board because they somehow forbid it, therefore also not beeing able to smoke but otherwise it is way more comfortable than taking a plane (more foot room and less overbooked)

It is important to note that there is no one ferry service from Penang to Langkawi. In fact, there are numerous ferry services which operate. Some boats are cheap and some are expensive; some ferries have food places whilst others don't etc. The ferry we took was from the terminal opposite the Queen Victoria clock tower in Penang. It cost... More
