About
Once an office, hotel, and home of many families, two shophouses built in 1900 fell into disrepair over the years. After an extensive conservation process, they have been given a new lease of life, and is now home to 22 Hale Street Heritage Gallery. Nestled in Ipoh’s historical enclave, 22 Hale Street connects the past with the present. Discover the history of Ipoh and her people in a fun and interactive way as you tour the galleries. Check out the products in the gift shop and bring home exclusive merchandise and publications. Also, on display are creative products and crafts by local creatives and social enterprises that 22 Hale Street aims to support. The gallery also has an event space open for rent where exciting arts and culture initiatives happen!

Friendly guides made this visit excellent
Sep 2020
I booked this visit via Airbnb (because that's where I saw it first), RM 10 for a guided tour. I was led by two guides and they were both super friendly, knowledgeable and humourous. I learned about the history of Ipoh, and I got to see some great artwork on display in the museum too. Definitely would recommend this visit.

Hi Adelynne, thanks for leaving us a review and being our first ever customer on Airbnb! It was a pleasure to bring you on a private tour. It was one of the fun moment we had bringing guest on tour. Thanks for sharing the drama that you watched on Netflix and the the tin mining tycoons being like the Chinese version of the actor (oops I forgot the name of the actor 😂). Lastly, stay healthy and alive in this time of pandemic. Hope to see you again!

Hail to Hale St for a wonderful trip down Memory Lane!
Jul 2020
Beautifully curated and arranged, this exhibition brings us back to the glory days of old Ipoh and its tin mining history. Many wonderful items of memorabilia to savour slowly...
I enjoyed it more as an ex-student Shimron whose wife was responsible for setting up 22 Hale St. gave me some inside scoop about some of the artifacts.

Museum that shows that 60s to 70s way of life
Dec 2019 • Couples
An interesting museum that shows the 60s to 70s way of life of people. Not a lot of things to see though. We went on a self guided visit ( rm5) . You can go for a guided tour (RM10). It shows Peranakan exhibits with barber shop etc. Can finish in 15-20 minutes .

Enjoy it before the crowds come
Dec 2019
Beautifully renovated and decorated. There's a heritage (Peranakan) centre, Amazing Toilets - if you have to pay to eat there just to enjoy the toilets, you should. The restaurant is excellent. Good local fare (the Char Kway Teow is excellent) and in a very comfortable and spacious setting. We had Yuzu, the Chocolate Lava cake, and the Rendang - Delicious. Best of all, the Affogato. This was fabulous!

Nice photo worthy place
Sep 2019 • Family
If you are a fan of retro stuffs, this is the place for you! The admission ticket was a mere RM5 (promotion rate) when we were there. Many insta-worthy places to take photos for instsgrammers too. There is a cafe at the building to chill and hide away from the hot weather. Definitely a must visit! 😊
