Interesting temples
Jun 2018 • Couples
There are actually several temples near Sam Po. The middle temple has a lengthy climb through the cave to a slightly overgrown lookout. Sam Po has a turtle pond and somewhat delapidated temple inside a "hidden" grotto, which makes for some good photos. Easy to reach by public bus

Diversity at it's best
Jun 2018 • Couples
We made a stop to see the cave temples of Ipoh, Malaysia and we were pleasantly surprised by the number and beauty of the numerous temples all located within walking distance of each other. Take your time and enjoy the diversity. Be sure to walk through the rock gardens they are unique.

One of nature's great wonders - a lovely cave. A close up with stalagmites and stalactites! A must see in Ipoh.

Certainly worth a stop
Apr 2018 • Couples
A large complex of Buddhist icons and alters in a spanning array of structures with a cave as background and inner spaces. Cave is not in itself stunning but the array of idols and other religious items is quite impressive. Open, welcoming and friendly.

Severely lack of maintenance
Apr 2018
We took bus T37 from Medan Kidd terminal and a hour long ride before reaching the destination, as it made loops into two nearby towns. Should have taken the much short route by bus 66.
Disappointment set in already when at the main entrance, it already show signs of lacking maintenance, similar to other buildings in the compound. We didn't even dare to use the toilets and have to endure till we walk to neighboring temple.
The greater disappointment came when we noticed the entrance to the 246-steps staircase leading to the opening with great view of Ipoh and its surrounding was locked and we also noticed the stairs were covered with fallen branches and leaves with no maintenance.
The only attraction left is the beautifully decorated pavilion in front of the temple and the landscaped garden with the fish pond.

One of the must-visit places in Ipoh
Mar 2018 • Friends
Sam Poh Tong cave temple is one of the hall marks of Ipoh city, located at the outskirt of the centre. It is a very interesting place to visit, not only in the religious sense, but also touristic sense. I find it very intriguing to have such a beautifully constructed temple inside a limestone cave system, along with various altars, wall paintings.

A good place for all, young and old. Whenever I come back to Ipoh, I would always bring my friends to visit this place. In recent years, renovations works have made this place even more beautiful. You will get a sense of tranquility beyond this world.

Interesting Cave Temple
Dec 2017 • Family
This is a returned trip with my family. Things haven't change much compared to a few years ago. Free parking and no entrance fee. Just need to pay for the vegetables if you want to feed the tortoise inside. Nice experience.
