About
Ipoh World (IpohWorld) is an education-based, not-for-profit organisation established in 2004 to promote awareness and appreciation of Perak, the Silver State of Malaysia and its unique, diverse and rich heritage, with particular focus on Ipoh and the Kinta Valley. In 2006 we ran our first public exhibition "The Story of Ipoh: From Feet to Flight", in cooperation with Darul Ridzuan Museum. Since then, supported by sponsorship, we have run several more exhibitions while continuing to seek further financial support for a permanent, lively and interesting heritage gallery for Ipoh, thus enhancing both education and tourism. This current project, our first permanent, museum quality exhibition is our first step to fulfilling this objective. Advance booking is recommended as space in the building is limited. You may book via our website by clicking on Exhibitions or by the QR Code on our brochure. It is quick and easy and you receive a booking confirmation by return.

Great introduction to Ipoh and its history
Beautiful old building, well restored and maintained. Exhibits provide a good introduction to tin mining and its history in Malaysia, as well as to life in general in Ipoh in the past. Guided tours are well conducted and provide a wealth of information on the topics mentioned. Highly recommended!
Dear Mike, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. We are glad you find Han Chin Pet Soo a 'great introduction to Ipoh and history'. Happy travelling !

Highly recommended for both foreign and local visitors to Ipoh!
My family and I had a wonderfully informative tour. For me, it was with a sense of deja vu as being a Malaysian, I could relate to a lot of the things that our guide, Mr Leong, related. He very ably brought history to life as I relived my childhood days growing up in Ipoh. Thanks to all the passionate people at Ipoh World that are working so hard to keep Ipoh Heritage alive for our generations to come! Kudos to all of you! And this is one guided tour that is highly recommended for foreign and local visitors alike.
Dear cchew111, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. We are delighted that you and your family find the guided tour informative and brings you back to your childhood days. Hope to see you again.

Go back in time at Ipoh's old town best museum !
Love love love this experience! For the culturally inclined and heritage enthusiast this is a must visit while in Ipoh. Just leave the kids and teenagers at home coz its not for them ! Beautifully curated and with a good storyline, my visit was enhanced by the wonderful narration by Mr Leong the inhouse guide. He brought the characters and events alive as he walked us throughout the 3 story museum. It's well lighted and plenty of delightful artifacts, I wish we could stay longer than the 60 mins alloted to us. Donations are welcome since there is no entrance fees chargeable. Be sure to book yr slot a day before since there are no "walk ins" Well done to the curators of this institution !
Dear Jasmin M, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. We are delighted you love the experience at Han Chin Pet Soo and hope to see you again .

    A window into Ipoh's past
We really enjoyed our tour at Han Chin Pet Soo. We booked online about an hour before the last tour of the day, which was very straightforward. It was a really informative tour of three floors of museum documenting the history and culture of the Hakka Chinese immigrants and the history of Ipoh, particularly it's tin mining heritage. Our tour guide was informative and entertaining.
Dear Claire G, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. We are glad you enjoyed your visit at Han Chin Pet Soo. Hope you will be back one day.

Really worthwhile visit to one of the best museums in Ipoh, Perak
We had a wonderful time there. The tour was interesting and very informative. The tour guide was engaging and really knowledgeable on how the Hakka and tin mining play their parts in the history of Perak. From the online booking to the actual tour of the museum, everything is above and beyond our expectations.

    Ipoh gem worth the visit.
Well curated. With reference to historical timeliness during the tour, it is a great place to get familiar with life and lifestyles of the rich and hard laboured of the times. This hour long tour is well conducted. Worth booking ahead.

    Worth visiting & Informative
Informative escort tour guide, totally free and worth visiting. The house itself tells a lot about this area's history, tin mining history and Hakka people. The funiture is kept as the same as in the old time make you feel nostalgic. As the house is run by the local community there, it is always reccommended to leave a small donation after the tour so that they can do all the required maintenance.
Dear Phuc Dang, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. We are happy that you find Han Chin Pet Soo worth visiting. Hope to see you again some time in the future.

    Impressive
The attraction was special to us as many exhibits and artefacts painstakingly curated in the museum were used in daily life during our childhood in the not too distant past. We truly appreciate the recounting of the history of the immigrants and Ipoh, expertly narrated by the affable guide Mr Leong, one of the best we had come across in our sojourn around the world. Thank you Ipoh World for such a wonderful and excellent experience.

Ipoh World at Han Chin Pet Soo is one of the most awesome museums in Ipoh. ( Ho Yan Ho museum , 22 Hale Street , and Tin Alley are highly recommended museums nearby the area) All these old market street places give a great history tour of Ipoh and like travel to the past.

Personally i like visiting museums and learning bout the old times of a place. HCPS gives exactly experience like that. Guide is nice to explain everything in detail and also humorous at times. The tour takes about an hour, and after that you can also visit the Hor Yan Ho museum right next door. Don't forget to do booking though.

Very knowledgeable tour guide gave us an excellent insight into the life of the Chinese miners who were the industrial pioneers of the Ipoh of the 19th century. The museum has many rooms and exhibitions of the time. You’ll need to book in advance. No charge but donations are accepted at the end.
Well worth a visit if you want to understand a bit about the stories of old Ipoh

I recently visited the Han Chin Pet Soo Museum, and it was a truly remarkable experience! Established as a Hakka miners' clubhouse in 1893, this beautifully restored museum offers a captivating journey through the history of the Hakka community and the tin mining industry in Perak.

The exhibits are incredibly detailed and authentic, showcasing mining tools, personal artifacts, and vivid dioramas that bring to life the daily experiences of the miners. Each display is thoughtfully curated, providing an in-depth understanding of the cultural and historical significance of the Hakka miners.

The guided tour was exceptional, with knowledgeable guides who shared fascinating stories and insights. Whether you have an interest in history, culture, or just enjoy exploring unique museums, the Han Chin Pet Soo Museum is a must-visit destination. Highly recommended!

Very interesting and educational tour of a "club house" that was freqeunted by rich tin miners in the day. The furnishings, household items, even mannequins were appropriately placed to allow the guide to explain and stir our imaginations of how things were during those times. A free tour, we were more than pleased to give a donation to further this history sharing.

The ancient building community has the energy of power, wisdom, reconciliation, agency period, etc. If you have the opportunity to visit this tourist attraction, you can use your palm to measure the energy of the main seat of the hall, flowing from top to bottom, and feel the energy tingling (it depends on the individual whether there is a sense of oppression). (Feng Shui geography is closely related to the owner of the house) It has nothing to do with outsiders, just measure the energy and feel it. Thanks Leong, remember to donate freely, the above suggestions.
