I've been to Christian and Catholic churches, chapels, Buddhist and Hindu temples, but this is my very 1st visit to a mosque. How beautiful and serene! I feel blessed and harmonious as they friendlily received the visitors from all walks of countries and religions. Remember to wear decently without shorts/ short sleeve shirts/ mini skirts etc and bring a big... More

The Mosque is quite dominant in this part of Georgetown, for the tourists who love to visit Mosques and churches it is probably a must see.

Beautiful mosque. What an amazing welcome. We are not Muslim, and not religious, just interested. We were welcomed, shown around, had all our questions answered, invited to go to the visitor's centre and reading room, and offered English translations of the Holy Koran, pamphlets and literature, all for free, and all with such amazing, friendly, smiling, and genuine, warmth. Non-Muslims... More

Really lovely place, everyone very welcoming and good short tour of the building. Shoes need to be removed and shoulders and knees covered for everyone, head covered for women as well. There are robes/scarves there for you to borrow. Free entry, short tour was about 15mins long.

Being a Muslim, its a norm to visit any mosque. Each mosque is unique in its own way, so does this Kapitan Keling Mosque. Love every part of it, but others might think that its just an ordinary mosque. Do wear appropriate clothing - long trousers, tshirts, otherwise they will provide you with robes. If you are interested in learning... More

Has a heavy component of Indian muslim worshippers as the area has a lot of Indian shops and money changers and jewelers. As a tourist attraction well the crowds are not there at all this time maybe because of global recession

Many historical sites in Penang are either closed or turned into a museum or a shop. Not this one. The mosque was built in the early 1800s by Indian Muslim traders. What's unique is its blend of Mughal-Moorish architecture. Moslems still frequent the mosque for five times daily prayers. In the weekends, it is packed esp. the evening prayer. If... More

This beautiful mosque is certainly one of the places that should be visited by tourists who come to Penang. The unique architecture of the mosque and also the atmosphere that it can be reassuring despite the busyness of this world.
