I've visited many botanical gardens all over the world and while these are hardly the largest (aside from the odd park keeper on a motorbike) these are some of the most peaceful with quite a variety of specimens in a small area. Even the monkeys were chilled out. Also free and easily accessible from the hop on / off and... More

Before even getting there you are greeted by shameless Monkeys relaxing in the street. The gardens are beautiful and next to even more Monkeys you can see a huge variation and palm trees and other plants. I attached myself to a tour and learned a few interesting details as well

A beautiful, and mainly well-kept garden apparently set in a valley which started life as a granite quarry but it’s not obvious to look at. It was also the site of first water treatment works which is at the rear of the gardens but is unobtrusive unless you are close by and is a feature more than anything else. The... More

Stressed, tired, burnout? This is the place to be - sweat it out with a walk or run. Looking at the greens or the kids playing and running around. Elderly dancing or doing tai-chi...all is right again. Many couples and newly wed will come for the beautiful back drop it provides

A very peaceful and beautiful place but not a lot to see unless you are a good walker as it is very large.

I write from the viewpoint of a traveler / visitor and therefore will skip all the technical and geographical details. Botanical Gardens is where you come to enjoy the nature, away from the hustle bustle, chocking Penang traffic. You may experience some bad traffic coming here...depending on the hour and day. You will see nature at its best with hills... More

The gardens are well tended and its a lovely quiet space but we were disappointed that there weren't more interesting plants. We were looking forward to the orchid house but there was barely a flower on show, these are small native orchids not the bright ones we were expecting. There were very few and little information. I would describe this... More

Such a pleasant change from the built up areas in the hectic traffic and bustle of Georgetown Penang. Calm and tranquil atmosphere only disturbed by confident Macaque monkeys on the look out for free food! Take care they are quite aggressive. Excellent & stretching hike over the Curtis Trail gets you up & close with the trees & foliage. Opportunities... More

I was disappointed with our visit to the gardens. At first glance it was beautiful. The walk to the lily pond was lovely and peaceful. A popular walking and exercise area for young and old. A lot of the enclosure displays were closed so we could not see specific plants, a lot of litter around the place. I was expecting... More

This is a beautiful and peaceful place to spend a few hours, popular with the locals who go to chill out and picnic. there are a few houses to visit like orchid, fern and cactus but be aware that on certain days they do not open to the public although they can be viewed from the outside. It is very... More
