Another location to visit if you happen to be in the area

I was saddened and angered by the bird sanctuary in KL. Even on Lonely Planet it is advertised as a great place where birds fly free in a massive jungle-like environment covered with a net. However, I saw very few birds flying free (yes the net is very high and there is space for free flying) and most of birds... More

Not a place to put on your must visit list as it is not a great attraction. Maybe with funding and some management it may amount to a reasonable attraction but as it is No. You can relax and walk about the area but do not expect to interact with lots of beautiful bird life.

Quite peaceful, but very green/brown all the way round (the nature of the place!). Don't expect to see much, especially if, like me, you are followed in by a Chinese tour group who felt the need to make as much noise as possible and scare everything away, stomping through the place without even LOOKING at the surroundings - why even... The varying reviews of the bird park maybe due to the tides and the moon. During lowest tide ie new moon the whole wetland is squishy marsh with areas of nearly dry ground. At the highest tides with a full moon the setting Is of a hidden shallow lake with clear water overlying the mud. There are birds and smaller... More

Nice and tranquil place but it is poorly managed! Place looks quite run down, insufficient information given. Might have came at a wrong wrong time (afternoon) because there was no wildlife at all! Wooden walkway ends halfway which descends into a muddy trail which is impassable during high tide.

Then the staff with all info regarding the mangrove swamp and the ecosystem that involved at surrounding area. Then we went for site inspection around the... More

We walked here from KL station. It's about 45 minutes walk up a hill, so bring water. The entrance fee is suprisingly expensive, but includes a show in the afternoon at the open air auditorium. There are a lot of birds in cages and loads of flamingos and peacocks out in the open. By KK standards, it's a fairly good... More

It's part of the wetland and when we arrive it was mid day and the mangrove land was dried during the low tide and we did not see a single bird accept for the many spider cobs and mosquitoes. You have to use insect repellent as the wetland and bird sanctuary area is swam with mosquitos even at mid noon!!!
