Before you take a boat to islands you have to pay conservation fee. I'm fine with that if island would be clean! But when we got to the small island named Kecil it was so dirty and stinky there:( why do we pay the money? What for? Can you keep the island clean? It is not hard to set trash... More

We stayed on the smaller island in the long beach area. Absolutely gorgeous views. The sand is soft and the water is crystal clear. A real paradise island. However in the background there is a lot of rubbish but that isn't a problem on the beaches as they seem to keep it clean. Was a bit more expensive compared to... More

Stayed on the 'big' island for 4 nights. It is a truly idyllic place - clear blue sea, white sand, palm trees..... it is very hot though! Make sure to take sunscreen & a hat, we both got burned. We stayed at the Barat, near 'main beach' but spent our days at the Perhentian Island Resort beach mainly - it... More

I stayed on Perhentian Besar at the Coral View Island Resort, which was only a few minutes' walk fromTurtle Bay. This bay is reasonably shallow and the water is pretty free of currents, making it safe to swim out from the shore itself (if you're a decent swimmer) to watch turtles feeding on the seabed. I went in April -... More

Very nice place for snorkelling and relaxing 30 mins far from the coast by boat. Avoid June to August (to crowded). Some beaches nearby are a bit dirty mainly due to the daily tourists (mostly male', sorry to say that) who don't care about the enviroment. Turtle beach is perfect for a half day trip (just 10 rm per person... More

It cost 70 MYR for adult for return ticket plus 30 MYR as an entrance fee. It is not small amount but the islands offer their unique and photogenic face. It worth for it. If you are searching for budget accomodation it is complicated to get some trough Agoda or Booking so go there and ask in hotels and challet... More

Stayed a week on the perhentians, both Kecil and besar. IMO I preferred besar as the beaches were cleaner and the coral was less destroyed. Swam with big reef sharks every day I was in the water both at shark point and around turtle beach, 2 large hawksbill turtles at coral garden on besar, sting rays, manta rays, star fish,... More

I was there since 10 years ago, Now feel again wanna go and visit there. It was really attractive place with a totally natural, a small village living not far from island. If I have a chance would prefer to stop by and staying for couple days. Always Perhantian in memories.

Pulau Perhentian (Malay for Perhentian islands) is a tropical paradise you should definitely visit if you get a chance. It is every bit as beautiful as seen in the pictures. A true getaway to leave the world behind you. Do take a note of the fact that it is only accessible via a 40 min ferry ride from Kuala Besut... More
