Sure, people are trying to sell you stuff, but not to the point of exasperation - and a lot of the 'stuff' is rather good. Because the medina is relatively compact, you can really shop around thoroughly. Worth considering: artisanal wood crafts... More

Essaouira was surprisingly chilled out. Food and drink is excellent quality and very cheap. We didn't get much hassle from locals. A great place for a long weekend and cheap winter sun.

This is less of a hassle than the Medina in Marrakech. There are plenty of shops, and places to stay. The noise and motor bikes and mopeds are absent. Good food at the right price is available throughout. It is very safe.

You can while away hours walking through the medina, sitting drinking mint tea and haggling for your souvenirs. Definitely worth checking prices with a few different stalls, some stall holders are definitely more keen to make money out of you than others.

A special maze of little artisans shops, food stalls, raids, artists, leather artists; painters, reggae music; wonderfully friendly people

So much contrast to Marrakech, this town is relax and beautiful. There is beach, fishing port and seafood stalls to have lunch and dinner. I love how relaxing this place is. Different from the busy and touts of Marrakech.
