We loved walking around the medina and fishing areas. It was akin to being in Covent garden with the acts in the square. The mood was laid back and a great place to have a coffee and relax. No pressure in Essauira that's why we loved it and we will go for longer next time as we only experienced a... More

Plenty to see and do on shopping, eating and chilling front. Seafood a definite a traction here. Safe experience, extended our stay at Riad Inna. Some refreshing restaurants here provide options for your pallette if you've arrived from other parts of Morocco. We took a 3 hr Supratours bus from Marrakesh...book early for these, they fill up and there's a... More

Very cool, interesting shops and nice people. Be prepared to bargain, it's part of the Berber culture. Come with a good attitude and have a set price for things that you want

Compare to the Medina and the souk in Marrakech, this is much more relaxing and easier to visit. Products are lovely and charming, people are friendly and very helpful and salesmen are not too pushy so you won't feel so hassled as in the capital. Colours everywhere and prices are competitive and reasonable. You also have a chance of getting... More

It is easy to get around even though it's easy to get lost! You'll soon find your way. You'll also get used to shopkeepers selling "handmade" things and "everyone else's is fake." - they all say this. Once you've wandered around a few times, you'll find that pretty much everyone sells the same things but it's good to ask for... More

Essaouira's medina (old town) is enclosed by walls and is beautifully preserved. Inside the media there are the souks (markets), lots of very affordable restaurants and off the main thoroughfare there are delightful back streets. This was my first trip to Morocco, and the only town I visited so on personal experience I can't compare it to its other cities,... More

Compared to Marrakechs medina the Essaouira version is cozier and not as intense. Everything seems a bit more friendly. Try it.

After absolutely hating the busy medina in Marrakesh, my partner and I were reluctant to go to another medina. However, this one proved to be a great experience! The shops and restaurants are really nice, beautiful narrow streets, clean (compared to some other medinas in Morocco). Most importantly, the sellers are nice, you can walk around without being hassled. The... More

Really enjoyed our experience there, was fun and the people were friendly. Prices were more expensive we thought than Marrakech however we didn't really go to shop.
