Absolute gem of an island. Beautiful with so much history. Amazing scuba and snorkeling. Great sea life. The island is absolutely stunning. I can’t understand how people can give this special place a poor review. You must be very unhappy with yourself or have no idea how to enjoy nature and marine life. Rather go to a commercial overcrowded superficial destination if that’s what makes you happy.

It is absolutely AMAZING
I am a Moxambican and I never went to Bazaruto before.
I went to Santa Carolina Island, Zenguelemo, Benguerrua and Magaruque.
The sea water is amazing. The hospihospitality is amazing.
It is a must.
I advice to visit all islands in a day because that's not much to do beside snorkelling and swimming
But the view is amazing.

If you had to choose one island it would be Bazaruto Island with the 2 mile reef. The dunes were beautiful and fun to climb. The view from the top is gorgeous.
Do snorkel around the island as you might see a dugong! I didn't snorkel because I only found this out after my trip.
Snorkeling at the 2 mile reef is amazing. The fish are bright and beautiful and it's quite shallow around the reef so you can stay floating/swimming on the surface the whole time. No need to dive as you will be close enough for viewing.
Bazaruto has the best snorkeling. I also went to Magaruque. Very beautiful island as well. It's nice to go if you enjoy boat trips and seeing different islands and have a longer stay in Vilankulo.

75 min rough boat ride from Vilanculos (Villas do Indico Lodge) to Paradise Island, small boat, not suitable for Kids. The Paradise Island is more or less covered the concrete ruins from a bigger old Hotel complex, rubish all over the small beach next to the landing point, snorkeling reasanable, other snorkeling Point at the very southern Point of the Island (next to an other nice looking beach) fantastic.... big aquarium
Costs: 120 US $ is not worth.
Result: 1 wasted day

We did the one day tour from Vilankulos. The price was a bit expensive but it was really worthy. During our trip we visited 2 of the Island (Bazaruto and Benguerra).
Firstly we did some snorkeling and enjoy an amazing lunch (prepared by the boat crew) and after that we have some time to chill or snorkel more, and visited the Flamingos.
IT is really must if you are in Vilankulos.

We took a daytrip to the Bazaruto island. The island was beautiful. The trip to and from the island with a boat called Sailaway was an accident asking to happen. Some of the safety jackets were in a very poor condition. Safety procedures were not discussed with the 25+ passengers. The tour guide was busy looking after the best interest of a group of drunk students (they started drinking rum at 9:00) - with whom he were discussing another outing the following day: thus ignoring the interest and safety of the rest of the passengers. The island itself is a MUST if you are in Inhambane - but please use another provider/boat.

The one day trip it is expensive but is the only way to see the island. You leave from Vilanculos in the morning and return in the evening. Nice views and so far the best spot I have ever done snorkeling in my life.

We stopped over here for a while to have lunch & wait for the tide to be right so we could snorkel Two mile reef.
There are some amazing shells here & some very large sand dunes to climb, look put for the wild goats, plenty of them, water is clean & this place is mostly quit, enjoyed the stay, but only good for about 3 hours tops.
