Lovely clean sand moving if windy (nor when we visited). Quite a climb and worth a visit. We visited in Jan 2019.

Well this was not like anything I had ever experienced before. The dunes in this area are magnificent and the tourists love to climb them. Views from the top are great. It's a wild landscape.

Unless you chat to locals, there is no indication of which is the best way to tackle this monster of a sand dune. We hit the dune at about 5am and tackled it from the left side. It took us a slow hour and half to get up and we were well in time to watch the sun rise which was our goal. I think this was a prime time rather than the heat of the day which also makes the sand slippery and hot. A small gift shop selling Dune 7 merchandise would do well. Got a tick on my bucket list but I won't be doing that again LOL.

Be prepared to get lots of sand in your shoes. If it is not too hot, maybe go barefoot and you will have better traction climbing the dune.

A really great and easily accessible place. The dune is deceivingly high...and 'climbing' up the dune...is not for the faint hearted...but well worth the 10-15 min cardiac workout 😅
