A pleasant enough place to visit but Kolomenskoye is a fair way out from the centre of Moscow on very busy roads, so it takes time to get there and back (we went with a guide in their own car), which could be better spent in other places. We visited the wooden palace, the Ascension Church, a couple of the minor churches and walked through the park. There is a golf buggy transfer from the palace to near the Ascension Church. The Ascension Church is probably more interesting from the outside than the inside but we did not pay extra to see the museum exhibits (which may be better).

Interesting architecture and with the elevation a very good view across the city. Nice open area and park with toilets and cafe. We visited in winter but was lucky to get a blue sky.

I visited in the middle of winter but even then the buildings were worth seeing and visiting especially the wooden palace (with a cafe). And of course very magical in the evening when all the lights come on. A very historic landmark that everyone should try and visit.

I spent about two hours walking around some magnificent recently restored historical buildings from around Russia. Each is well described and signposted.
Paths are good quality and you walk down to Moskva river and back up to top where the views are really good.
Lots of apple orchards as well - there is a lot of history with this site which I’d be interested in.
I’d suggest choosing a warm clear day to visit.
Metro stations are nearby but will need short walk. I arrived at Kolomenskaya and left via Kashirskaya.
This is where lot of locals go - is not a tourist trap but there are plenty of facilities. Much better!

It was a big estate set in idyllic riverside parkland. Kolomenskoe was the favourite summer palace of Ivan the Terrible. It has a fine wooden palace with many well furnished rooms.
We visited the wooden palace in the morning and went for lunch.
In the afternoon we saw Peter the Great's Wooden Cabin, which was moved from Archangel in north Russia. Peter the Great stayed in the cabin while overseeing the formation of the Russian navy in 1702. We were fortunate to be able to visit the Church of the Ascension, which is a UNESCO listed church to honour the birth of Ivan the terrible in 1532. It has a tented roof to prevent snow piling up. While we were in the Church, we could hear the howling of wind outside.
Worth visiting

This is a wonderful park on the outskirts of Moscow. Despite its location, it is still easy to access due to the excellent metro system. It offers a lovely combination of walking trails through woods or along the river and a mixture of old buildings. Not to be missed.

Traditional "lubok" like Russian Moscow site-seeing, this place, since Soviet days, has very little to share with a real Russian/Moscow history. But, when you come with little kids on a sunny day (or with your beloved) - it suits you well.

This estate is v huge with hectares of apple orchards..one end is the Ascension Church while the other is the colorful wooden Tsar palace buildings. Be prepared that it will be a long walk but we enjoyed the greens n fresh air..it wasn’t disappointing as tho the palace is not glam but the architecture is interesting n we met quite a few couples here taking their wedding photos..😊

Я видела там сидели, кто-то загорал и даже пикники с фотосессией делали. Главное взять с собой на чем можно посидеть. Лавочки тоже есть там.

Where is the main entrance to the estate in relation to the metro?

If you get out of the Metro and turn around you should be facing the main road follow that road to the left for 5 mins and you can't miss the entrance.

Are there electronic audio guides in English for people who do not speak Russian? Do staff on the property offer tours in English? Are the tours on the electric carts in English?
