You'll need 4 hours approx to cover it. Three floors, showcasing art master pieces, a theater showing a WWII documentary film (Russian) and separate halls for correspondence documents between UK, USA and CCCP during the war. Other floors exhibiting arms, uniforms, machines and tools. Most impressive is the first thing you see as you walk in the ledger of ALL... More

This is a very good museum for the 1941-45 defence of Russia against Nazi Germany. I only had enough time to visit a small section of it during the short stay. I saw the most common rifles, machine guns and sub-machine guns and uniforms used by the German infantry and the most common weapons and uniforms of Soviet infantry soldiers.... More

The Soviet Union, and Russia as its successor, treasure the memory of WWII (or the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, as it is locally known) due to both the titanic clash of ideas that it represented, but also the unfathomable destruction it wrought on the country, taking 27 million lives in the process. Any Russian family, walking through the hall... More

This museum is dedicated to remembrance of Soviet heroes in second W.W. Many halls and main exhibits. The height of column in front of the museum is resembling the war period legth and nearby is the flame and above- the victory godess. The site was built along 7 years and finished in 1995 (50 years since end of the great... More

This museum has several large semi-3D displays depicting the great patriotic war, offering an immersive experience. I went there and came across a ceremony with young students dressed in military uniform and a small marching show. Quite an experience. There is also a shop on the ground floor and there you can buy Russian nesting dolls (matryoshka dolls) as well... More

This is one big, imposing museum. But fascinating to see the Second World War from the Russian's perspective. Worth visiting if you are interested in war history.

We tried to go here on a Saturday but it was closed due to some massive parade of youth that was going on. We came back the next day, on Sunday, and got in. We really enjoyed our visit. I was looking forward to visiting, knowing that the North American education system tends to under-teach us of the huge sacrifices... More

This will be of interest to most people as those who would prefer to not be reminded of the war could stroll in Poboda park surrounding the museum or just take in the art on the top floor. We started with the walk from the bottom end very close to the arch of victory that straddles the thoroughfare. The view... More
