About
All museums are similar to some extent. Often it is a collection of items united by one theme, lying on display behind the glass. You cannot say the same about our museum. It is different. It is interactive. It is difficult to say what it resembles most, a museum in its conventional meaning or a theme park. The exposition imparts the information in a multitude of ways. It is multifaceted. It engulfs you, enters your mind and interacts with almost every single of your sense organs. And it is possible thanks to the cutting-edge audio-visual and computer technologies.

Beautifully restored monument of Soviet avant-garde architecture. Very modern, tolerant, and unobtrusive.

Food for thought at any occasion
Jan 2020
My wife and myself are frequent goers. Usually, for Museum's exhibitions - they are brilliantly thought of, always reaching the aim and giving the right impression. No matter, how sad the emotions may be (especially, when Holocaust is described) - there is always a warm quantum of light, that you take with you.

So much to recommend here that it's hard to start. Very well laid out, very well run and there is a real depth of feeling in the exhibits. Has regular concerts, lectures and exhibitions. And very close to all transport.

Industrial strenght dreariness. Totally out of place in this joyous and vibrant city.
May 2019
A prosaic and oft-repeated downer in many of the major cities of the world. Out of place, phantasmagorical, overwrought, overexploited and entirely unnecessary.

Incredible interactive and immersive Museum chronicling life in Russia for the Jewish people. Centuries of scapegoating, persecution and suffering culminating in 90% of Jewish adults, children and babies being exterminated during World War Two. This Museum has highest tech newsreels, footage and eyewitness accounts along with well documented artefacts. A valuable insight for everyone on how prejudice can evolve into Genocide.

Amazing museum / Rude and intolerant staff
Sep 2019
A modern, very didactic and entertaining museum. Every detail is taken care of and they make use of technology very intelligently. The information it offers is exceptional and its interactive exhibits are very attractive.
The only negative point was one of the girls at the information desk (the first point of contact with the visitor) that paradoxically showed a great intolerance towards us because we do not speak Russian and since her English was very bad, she was unable to explain us how to connect to WiFi. She almost took the phone off from my hands to do it herself and finally, she couldn't. Even her partner felt ashamed of her attitude. The museum should choose its staff better.

Amazing use of technolgy

From 4D movie to the use of 3D printers, this museum captures history on a way I've never seen. We spent 2 hours (as we were on a tour), but could have easily spent all day. Young or old, this place will engage your interest.

A balanced portrayal of the Jewish experience over the centuries in Russia
Aug 2019
This museum attempts to present the full spectrum of Jewish experience for about the last 1000 years in Russia, under its many political systems, using an array of presentational and multi-media formats. It does seem to wander away from its Jewish focus a bit during the Second World War, and life seems to have become considerably more secure under the present regime (whose President had made a significant and public gift to the the Museum's development), but with a suitably skeptical approach, the visitor does get a better understanding of Jewish life in Russia than has ever been presented before. The printed materials are limited in English but there is a free accompanying wifi guide makes up for much of the slack. The cafeteria is closed at time of writing.

Very educational and interesting
Aug 2019
We were with a group and had chosen a different tour, but the ones who had done this tour said it was great. We had a couple extra days in Moscow so went over.
It was way more than we expected. It was in an Area that you wouldn’t have expected outside of the main city. After going through a metal detector, you came through what looked like a complex. There was a school, synagogue, the museum, and cafés.
The museum itself was way more than we expected. We got a private guide and tour that was amazing! The museum itself is very modern and interactive with many things to manipulate. It goes through the history of the Jewish religion and ends up in modern times. The first thing we saw was a 4D movie that was interesting and great fun!
We would highly recommend this museum to anyone. We are not Jewish but learned so much about the people and religion.

A must for Jewish visitors
Jul 2019
A great history lesson of the Jews from the whole of the Eastern European region. You'll walk away having been exposed to a very powerful experience. The museum provides an in-depth understanding of the history of Ashkenazi Jews. Set aside at least 4 hours or more for the visit
