The army house is a great example of old Russian architecture. It is located on the site of an old estate with much history. We were interested in viewing the bust of Frunze, but realised that it was not accessible, as there was a car barrier and a security post. We took a few photo of the building and Frunze, and then moved on. This area is easily reached by taking subway Line 10 (light blue) to the Dostoyevsky station. On exiting, walk to the bank, and use the pedestrian crossing to access Suruvov Park, and again to cross over to the far sidewalk. The bust of Frunze, stands on a brown pedestal which has his name and the years of his life. We had visited Omsk where his troops fought against Admiral Kolchak. We had also visited Bishkek, Kyrygzstan, where Frunze was born, and the city was named Frunze, in his honour after he died. He was a successful red army soldier, particularly well known for the battles that he fought in Central Asia, including Khiva and Bukhara in Uzbekistan. He is also well known for his battles in Crimea. He died in suspicious circumstances while undergoing a routine operation in 1925. Other nearby attractions are the Surovov statue, Military Theatre and Central Armed Forces Museum.
