Very old and for the most part unrestored church and complex just outside the Garden Ring and very near the Novospassky Convent, which is worth a visit as well, although the main bell tower is currently under restoration.

My Russian friend said that I've already seen all the main attractions and should go visit something more unusual, so I followed her suggestion and went for a visit to this wiered but unique place. If it's not your first visit and you have a few hours to spend, deffinetely go there, espacially great during summer

This is a very old terracotta church and building that at first glance looks like ruins. It does however give it a certain charm but do not go out of your way to visit it.

If you wanna watch the old Moscow, you should go to this place. Don't imagine so big place, this is so small square, but with Russian soul, when you go through the gates you are coming to history, the beautiful church and building around church. The road like 200 years ago, from stones. We walked around, the artists painted pictures,... More

Hardly we thought that Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was the top of the beauty in the old russian traditional style, when another pearl of old russian architecture emerged in the front of our eyes. That was the appearance of the Krutitskoe Podvorye, the whole complex of old russian buildings, here, relatively near to the Novospasky Road and Bridge and... More

A fascinating place, especially in wintertime when it's covered by snow. You'll have the feeling to be back in the Middle Ages or at least a couple of centuries ago.

Krutitsy is one of the most spiritual places in the whole city. This is a piece of old divine beauty and solitude almost in the centre of crowed megapolis. It is a little known and seldom visited. Krutitsy Metochion, established in the late 13th century, contains well-preserved buildings erected in the late 17th century on the site of earlier 16th... More
