Built in the early 16th century, this stone platform was not the site of executions, but an area from which the Tsar's edicts and sentences for criminals were announced.

Lobnoye Mesto is easily an overlooked stone situated in front of St Basil's Cathedral. Not interesting.

There's nothing really to see and do at this historic execution spot. Still, while visiting Red Square, you might as well take a glimpse of it for a minute or two.

While this has a place in Russian History, it is easily overlooked in the shadow of St Basil's Cathedral. When we were there, it was screened off, so unable to get too close to see it, but don't feel that we missed out.

You will see this speaking platform just to the left of St Basil's Cathedral on Red Square where many sermons have been hosted years ago. However, it has historical value but is very ordinary to look at.
