I've watched Magical Flute there. It was an amazing version/interpretation of the original opera adapted to the format of this Concert Hall. Amazing sound and performance! If you are there to watch opera you have to get Parterre/Balcony tickets because otherwise you will end up watching performer's backs only (if purchased Amphitheater tickets)

Amazing ballet, staging, colors and music. This epic poem of Pushkin is so much of St.Petersburg. The sound in Mariinsky II just need to be experienced.

We booked tickets on the internet in far away Botswana and ended up in a shared box with 6 other Russians. The performance of the Nutcracker Suite was just stunning. We left the theatre with our heads still singing with what we had seen. The way the theatre had been renovated with individual seats instead of joined together was really... More

Our family came to a late December evening performance of La Traviata at the new theater, the Mariinsky II. We did not get tickets before we left the US. We tried to book them thru the internet the day before but could not get it to work for us. The next morning, I took a cheap Uber car to the... More

A memorable experience regardless of which show you attend! The beautiful decor, the people, the history - it's all glamourous and quintessential St Petersburg

Beside the clasic Mariinsky Theater in the Dekabrists str. and nearby Mariinsky-2 theater hall, more modern than first one, in 2007 opened, I might say, totally modern new venue as the Concert Hall, located in Pisareva str. While designing this potential new space, it was used one existing old high brick building, sometime being the old store and was created... More

There is two Mariinsky theatres and then the concert hall nearby. This is quite new venue, opened 2007, and therefore place is modern in all aspects. Even if I'm not the specialist of acoustics of the concert halls, I can consider this hall one of the best I have ever heard. The hall sounds good even if there is whole... More

Note there are two Mariinsky theaters - Mariinsky and Mariinski II. We experienced both on two consecutive evenings - both times we enjoyed excellent operas. The Mariinsky is the older opera house with all its grandeur. Relatively small and intimate. Basically all seats are close to the stage so it is difficult to go wrong with seat selection. The Mariinsky... More

Favorite Composer? PIT. Favorite piece? Swan Lake. And where do we see the Russian composer's masterpiece? In Russia...at the second best ballet company in the world next to the Bolshoi of Moscow. And done in a perfect smaller theater venue. If ever in St Pete, do not miss this attraction. Maybe you'll get lucky and also see Swan Lake :)

We are visiting St. Petersburg for the first time, aboard a crusie line, and we debated about whether or not to add this to our schedule -- after a long day of touring, and before a second long day of touring -- but, oh! My advice now, after the fact, would be -- don't miss out! We love old theatres,... More
