We were really lucky to get tickets with help of our hotel Solo Sokos Vasilievsky. Swan Lake ballet in this theater almost make me crying, because the performance was so visual and so amazing. And the level of dancers is so high that you can't even image. It was really world-class ballet experience. I loved also the atmosphere of Mikhailovsky... More

Mikhailovsky Opera and Ballet Theater was the second Opera and Ballet Theater in Saint-Petersburg. I used to visit it a few times in 1980-1990s just because the tickets to Mariinsky Theater were too expensive. I have never been disappointed before, I was not disappointed during my last visit in November 2016. I love this old beautiful building inside and outside.... More

Very good performance of nutcracker here. Tickets not cheap. Refreshments at intermission expensive, but quite a nice way to spend the evening. Seats hard and uncomfortable. The building was under renovation - facade covered in canvas - not a pretty sight, also made it difficult to locate.

Went to see the Nutcracker and it was excellent. Lovely intimate theatre with great acoustics. Oldest theatre in SP and has a great ballet company. So glad we made time to go and couldn't fault any part of the experience. What was so nice was that all the locals made an effort and looked nice, leaving coats etc in the... More

Went to see nutcracker yesterday. Very lovely atmosphere but the balcony was really hot!! We had a first raw seat and a good view, but I bet the others behind us could not see anything. Seats are narrow, and my leg touched a little overweight person next to me all the time. But good acoustics and good ballet.

This rather small house of opera and ballet, compared to Bolshoi Theater or Mariinski(Kirov) Theater, is still very beautiful building, by its exterior appearance and even more how it looks inside. We assured in that, when we passed by this very important cultural edifice, located in the Arts Square, in the Historic Center of St Petersburg. The Mikhailovsky Opera and... More

It is a beautiful theater with some extremely talented performers and musicians. We got to be there for the opening of the 184th season (can you believe it?) - and it was fantastic! They played Puccini's La Boheme and it was done beautifully! Everything from singing to music to the decorations was amazing!

We were in Russia just after the Bolshoi ended and just before the Mariinsky (Kirov) started. My mother and I are dancers and we wanted to see a ballet in the heart of ballet culture. The Mikhailovksy did not disappoint. We saw a production of Le Corsair (not often performed in the States) and the whole experience was wonderful. The... More

It is a very old theater and when fully seated it is not very comfortable. I sat right at the top, in the middle of the last row. The chairs were close together so there was no room to move about. A Russian old lady sat next to me but she left in the middle of the show perhaps it... More
